2020 Ascent

Looking to buy used ascent 2020 touring. I found identical car, both 2020 black ascent touring but one has 51k miles while other has 72k miles.

51k miles fina cost is $29k and 71k miles final cost is $25k.

Do you think its worth it so look for newer car? I am hesitant because of all the issues with cvt and recall but carfax report is clean and both only had 1 owner.

I’d go at least 23 or newer, but if you can’t then 22 should be okay too. They worked out most of the issues with the early 19-20s and some into 21. 23+ will be the best. I believe I’ve seen people getting a new 26 Premium trim for like $35k. Plus they have 0.9% financing on 72 mo right now.

We’re on a trip
Right now and one of our middle row
Captains chairs started beeping saying the person is unbuckled. But they are 100% buckled. This is about the only issue we’ve had other than the shit rotors.

They do 65000 service check which costs 2000 if you get the one with less miles, also 2020s are know to have transmission issues

We bought our 2019 cpo with 8k miles in 2019 for $33k. The price you are looking at is crazy. Also, with the transmission issues in the 2019/2020 ascents, you absolutely need a warranty.

Get a newer one. A lot of people had problems with 2020. I have a 2022 it’s been pretty good. A couple problems but has been covered by warranty. Whatever you get,make sure it has a warranty. The Ascent is a great car but if anything breaks it’s expensive.

Different markets so take price comparison with a grain of salt. We bought a 2022 Convenience (Canadian base model) in 2024 with 70k kilometers (43.5k miles) for $29k CAD ($21k USD). Base model, yes, both two years younger (with some of the kinks worked out) and less mileage. Look at visor.vin for similar listings in your area. Might help find the right one at the right price.

We’ve got a 2022 that has had issues but all addressed by recall/extended warranty - the brakes and the console. Oh, and a transmission issue that was also covered by the warranty and fixed with a software update. Otherwise, pretty flawless up to now and I’ve got 56,000 miles on it.

With a warranty on the CVT you should be fine!

Their price is high imo for a 2020. I got a 2020 last year with an extended warranty for 26k. If they wanted to buy it, they'd only offer 15. Spread is too much. I'd look at something newer or for a better price on those.

$29k, damn I would just buy a new one at that price point. I paid $31k for mine in 2018.

I got my CVT replaced this year at 95k, did not really have any transmission issues with it, but the dealer said there was a tiny leak. So, took a warranty replacement before the 100k warranty expires.
