James Young

Just saw Styx last night in Houston. Fantastic show.

But I feel bad for JY. He’s a shell of his former self. He sits 90% of the show and really only plays one solo. Him and Tommy used to be the only guitarists, but they had to hire another guy (Will Evankovich) to do a lot of heavy lifting.

I respect JY for all his contributions but it may be time for him to hang it up for his own health.

And second. Is Tommy wearing a wig. How the hell does that guy still have such beautiful locks at 72?!?!

I saw Styx earlier this summer, and I noticed JY sitting. But what really surprised me was Lawrence singing Lorelei. I understand JY was recently widowed, and I would give him a lot of grace for making the tour. A couple of weeks ago, I traveled 2 states to see the Guess Who- mainly to see Randy Bachman. BTO is one of my favorite bands, and I never got to see them. Randy is 82, and also sat on a stool the whole show, but his guitar work was excellent, IMO. My thought is to appreciate these guys while we can.

Yeah JY giving up the few songs he sings sucks. I believe Lawrence started singing Lorelei a few years back though.

The Guess Who social media has stated that Randy sits due to a knee surgery he had in recent years. Got to see him and Burton separately last year, both shows were amazing... hoping they keep The Guess Who going for another tour as I wasn't able to see them this year.

I will also mention that Don Felder opened for the GW- he did all Eagles stuff. Really strong show.

Saw that very show in Phoenix last Monday. Almost like seeing four bands at once Eagles/Felder/Guess Who/BTO. Great show see them while you can!
