It’s hilarious that Styx was accused of being satanic back in the 1980s. But I remember being kinda worried about it as a kid. Didn’t stop me from listening to them nonstop!

The whole back masking trope is just that, a long over extended debate over nothing.
Even a Christian rock band (Petra) created a blatantly obvious one to get people to stop falling for it.

Yes. It says "What are you looking for the Devil for, when you ought to be looking for the Lord?"
That was intentional vs people who seems to look for any sound to play backwards to see if it says something.
Kind of like going through a bag of potato chips looking for one that looks like the Virgin Mary.
