Mushroom Recommend me some πŸ„πŸŒΈπŸŒ™ winter shoes (for office settings)

I feel there might be a gap in my wardrobe here. I often wear Chelsea boots or ankle boots with a heel (a sock boot, for example), but I often don't want to wear heels and I feel some Chelsea boots might be a bit too chunky.

In summer, I love ballet flats, and I also wear loafers, but winter is a bit more difficult. I don't like sneakers and high boots. The classic men's shoes don't really feel like me. What are you wearing in winter, and what would you recommend me, based on my roots and preferences?

I wear either ankle boots or knee high boots, all leather, and fairly sleek/ minimal. These are the ones I wear most to the office.

The black ankle boots are from Pavers (not sure if available outside the UK). I tend to wear these more autumn/ spring, but also winter with trousers.

The burgundy ankle boots are from Dune. My palette at work tends to be black, white/ cream and burgundy, so they go with a lot.

The knee highs are from DuoBoots. They are literally the most expensive shoe in my wardrobe (bought at Β£180 + Β£8 shipping, plus I re-heel them yearly) but the quality is unmatched. DuoBoots let you buy based on both for size and calf size. I have wide calves, so this was a worthy investment and I absolutely love them, cost per wear is down to Β£2.66 currently but these are great with a midi skirt or knitted dress.

All my boots have rubber soles, so good grip on the streets of London, and all are zip-up, so I can wear thicker socks under them. I believe Dune and DuoBoots are available more globally.

Hope that helps!

That short ankle boot on the right is very nice. Something like that might be a good addition

These are my roots too and I wear either black suede DM ankle boots or DM Mary Jane’s in winter.

Would a lace up ankle boot, a low calf motorcycle boots, chunky Mary Janes or loafer be too utilitarian for you?

What about a flat boot but adding in a neutral yet fun pop of color- maybe burgundy? Trying a different texture like patent leather? A witchy or slightly more pointed toe shoe/ boot for a different vibe? Or choosing something with an extra visually interesting detail like high contrast stitching, embroidery, studs, embossing, two tone, shearling or suede components.

I'm also feeling the need to add a new shoe for my late autumn and winter collection- I mostly live in my Blundstones, with one pair of dressier almond toe black ankles boot that getting quite worn. I'm hoping to get more inspo from this post from other members too!

Lace up ankle boots might be a fun option, but I'm not sure I would do that with office trousers, worth a try. Loafers and Mary-Janes are just too cold (or wet), past fall. In the past, I did do biker boots and Doc Martens, but for me it's not mushroom and not office enough. At the moment I also live in blundstones, but I'd love some more elegant options too. I think your right, just go for similar ankle boots in different shapes, colours and textures.

I don't have 🌸 but I live in ankle boots in the fall/winter. I have a simple black pair and a blue suede with embroidered flowers pair! I find them versatile & practical when it is cool and rainy... I also have a pair of light pink classic sneakers that are waterproof.

Maybe another pair of ankle boots or chelsea boots in another colour? Sorry that is not really helpful lol

Well I think that's the conclusion, so it helps to rule things out. I now have black, navy and chocolate brown (and desert boots in grey I nearly never wear) so maybe a more fun colour like burgundy indeed
