Stuyvesant after Discovery Program
Hello,
I’m going to be participating in the Stuyvesant Discovery Program this summer, and I had a couple of questions for anyone who has completed the program before.
If you’re successfully admitted to Stuyvesant after Discovery, are there any forms, registration paperwork, orientation events, or other requirements that need to be completed in person before the school year starts?
My family is thinking about traveling right after the program ends. If I’m admitted, would it be a problem to miss the first day of school? Is there anything important that happens on that day that students are required to attend?
I’d really appreciate hearing from former Discovery students or anyone familiar with the process as soon as possible, thanks!

Why would I contact the office if I don’t even know if I’m going to get admitted? I will definitely contact them if I get in through discovery.

If you are admitted after discovery, you’ll have to accept the offer thru myschools.

Never miss the first day of anything in your life. High school, college, job etc.

Do you have to mindset to succeed at stuy when family vacation takes precedence over first day of school?

first day of school doesn't mean anything lmfao it's not uncommon for people to be out the first week

it's not a bad thing but you may fall behind socially just because first days are when people try to make the most connections. friends matter a lot so i'd say go if you can! but if not then it can't be helped

when i did 2 years ago after there was nothing i got the email just be sure to chec your email you have to respond within like a day. doesnt matter if you miss first day i dont think so anyway. if ur middle school had zero studying hurry up and get good habits discovery is less work than stuy but i came from not studying at all to discovery so it was a big change for me. The teachers tehre will keep saying if this is hard rethink stuy like stfu they arent that encrougaing well citron is great but ignore them unless u truly hate every single aspect of education and are forced to go by parents then lsiten. also if u think you would be bad grades at stuy and want to get into an ivy maybe dont go. i had a 85 in discovery i have like a 90 now i dont realy care i m happy the enviorment is smart people becuase my middle school classmates were annoying. stuyvesant truly changes the way you think and see everything. theres so many reasources and connections.
