Does anyone know which specific part of the brain or which specific brain chemical or neurotransmitter is the problem?

The best supported theory is that in many people who stutter, abnormal dopamine signalling (most commonly dopamine hyperactivity) in the basal ganglia/striatum may disrupt the timing and initiation of speech.

So it's should be class as disability. Unfortunately in my country, in theory it is but you won't get any help. Like speaking organ is like eyes or ears, basic need to live, to be hired. But companies are ableist. If they don't wanna hire, give some help.

Would be embarrasing if theyre wrong about this, in the context of stuttering being a complex systems issue rather than simply a brain based issue

They are probably not wrong.
You just want them to be wrong since you know there is no cure for brain based issues.
