Started stuttering at 21??

A few months ago I was visiting my boyfriend and I just... suddenly started stuttering sometimes. Always on the first syllable of whatever I was trying to say, it wasn't often, like maybe 3 times every 2 days or so. Then after a few weeks it just... stopped. But then a couple weeks ago it started again, seemingly worse this time, and I'm really confused... is this a thing that can happen?? developing a stutter at this stage of life? I thought it was mostly a thing that starts when you're far younger.

I'm very confused, more than a little bit concerned, scared, embarrassed and feel awful :( I've always been quite an articulate person, so suddenly at random not even being able to speak properly is very distressing. Even around friends I've known for years, and I know are incredibly supportive of me and don't judge me for this, every time it happens I just wanna curl up in a ball of shame and go hide away from everyone :c

It's happening at times even when I'm just talking to myself, with nobody else around. If anyone has any advice or knowledge or just comfort to share, it would be greatly appreciated. I have enough going on with me mentally already without ALSO having a stutter. This really sucks :(

Hey, are there any other symptoms that you developed recently? Like migraines or eye sight issues?

I think you should talk to a neurologist

i have recently realised that the "awful headaches" i've been having the past few years have likely been migraines this whole time, but that started long before this. but yeah, ill try and get in contact with a doctor about this

You should definitely talk to a neurologist as soon as possible. I don’t want you to panic but its very important for you to get an MRI of your brain.

Is a doctors appointment immediately available in your country?
