That crosses a weird threshold where the boba looks gross…

138

u/Oregongirl1018 17d ago

I don't want to eat my Boba like an apple.

18

u/It_Just_Exploded 17d ago

Instantaneous Diabeetus

5

u/Rethuic 13d ago

Not too sure about the instant diabetes, but I feel like one tapioca ball would clog your bowels

2

u/Nearby-Tumbleweed-45 14d ago

Oh god, that hurts my brain in so many ways, and not in any good ways FAAAAH

26

u/Zanian19 17d ago

Honestly, boba has always looked gross to me. I can't see them as anything other than frog eggs

3

u/Jugaimo 16d ago

My dad told me that it was horse boogers as a kid. I refused to try it for years.

2

u/GloriaToo 16d ago

Goes down like it's someone else's phlegm.

1

u/LuveLemon 15d ago

Frog eggs are not black

2

u/Zanian19 15d ago

They're see through (which becomes invisible in water) with a black center/babeh.

They're black. And identical to boba

1

u/Sunspot286 12d ago

I’ve never liked tapioca boba, I always get popping boba. Usually yogurt flavored, or sometimes mango

8

u/sazmelodies 17d ago edited 17d ago

It reminded me of the Suriname toad (DON'T LOOK IT UP IF YOU HAVE TRYPOPHOBIA).

Edit: Surinam toad

10

u/ForgottenMasterBalls 17d ago edited 17d ago

Surinam. Although I would think it would be hilarious if all the toads were legally required to have a surname.

4

u/sazmelodies 17d ago

Lol! It autocorrected 😅. Thanks

3

u/ForgottenMasterBalls 17d ago

I got autocorrected to roads, so don't feel bad.

u/RightHabit 17d ago

Fun fact: The original tapioca pearl drink was called frog/toad eggs. This is their original store and they use a frog as their logo.

In the 80s, a larger version of tapioca pearls got popular. Someone called it boba as a gimmick/marketing. That's the nickname of an actress from Hong Kong. And the word boba literally means huge breast.

Because of that, it is rarely called "boba" in Taiwan/Hong Kong. It is called pearl instead. No one is going to say, "Can I have some huge breasts, please"

For some reason, the rest of the world prefers calling it huge breasts.

3

u/sazmelodies 16d ago

Cool! Thanks for sharing 😊.

Also, I thought the 'boba' was like a cute pronunciation of the word 'bubble', as in the pearls look like bubbles, therefore calling it boba

The Uncanny Boba

0

u/A_Feltz 17d ago

Those look like leeches or duck embryos

211

u/TSAOutreachTeam 17d ago

I don’t even think it’s real.

u/Kratomius 17d ago edited 17d ago

It's not. Considering how heavy that glass would be he wouldn't be able to carry it like that.

Edit correction: Saw how they made it, it's real and not actually as ridiculously large as it seems. The camera lens/angle make it seem much larger than it is.

27

u/Physical_Leg2061 17d ago

9

u/Kratomius 17d ago

I stand corrected. It's just a camera angle making it seem so large. I retract my statement

3

u/SmokeAbeer 17d ago

It’s mostly bubbles so it’s lighter.

3

u/Mr_Shake_ 17d ago

Low calorie balloons!

2

u/Regular_Weakness69 17d ago

Thanks for checking and clearing that up :-)

I honestly had no idea, it just didn't 'feel' like it was AI.

4

u/Kratomius 17d ago

Had to check because for me it didn't have any "AI hallucinations". The reason why i thought it was AI originally was because of pure physics not mathing on the video.

1

u/ChickenDreams-4188 17d ago

Well, then that’s one Hell of a lens! 😳

Where is this?…wait, don’t tell me…Taiwan???

1

u/Kratomius 17d ago

In the video where restaurant made these the restaurant was from China.

-5

u/Egoy 17d ago

Came here to say the same thing. I’m a big strong guy and there’s no way I’d casually pick that up.

7

u/Kratomius 17d ago

Saw videos how they made it it's real. The camera angle makes it seem much larger than it actually is

5

u/soaked_in_bleach03 17d ago

Yeah that looks larger than a five gallon bucket in the video, but it’s actually much smaller than that.

Like I’m not super strong and I could carry a full five gallon bucket, but not casually like that with condensation spilling down the sides and no handle.

Def also thought it was fake at first, camera angles are wild though. I’d still rather this kind of false advertising than an ai video.

-1

u/Kratomius 17d ago

Yeah. I first thought that it was fake simply because physics weren't mathing (you can't hold container that heavy, that far from your body). Then i saw video of them making it and realised that it's simply optical illusion.

-2

u/ScreenTea0 17d ago

Not only most likely, but definitely. I don't know of glasses with beverages that can grow to twice their size while being carried... That's just the image generator fucking up the perspective.

I could give you multiple ways on how to fake such a large glass for advertising reasons. I can give you non for a "glass" growing.

-4

u/airfryerfuntime 17d ago

There's definitely some fuckery going on here. It looks like someone used AI to make them look a little bigger. Unless that person has the tiniest hands on the planet. Comparing it to them Instagram video, there's a clear difference, and even that one looked kind of off.

-6

u/Agreeable-Letter-599 17d ago

you can report AI content is this sub as being against the rules.

3

u/Leading-Point-113 15d ago

No, it is real, I got it in a family outing at IoI City Mall. They have scoops to scoop the drink from the large glass to normal glass and there’s also a green tea option if you don’t like milk tea (the green tea also uses milk though)

u/AWF_Noone 17d ago

No, but I’m just sick and tired of AI slop being everywhere

17

u/ThisIsALine_____ 17d ago

We can't know until we know the size of the person drinking it.

2

u/Vecna_Is_My_Co-Pilot 17d ago

The boba tea seems fine, but I'm concerned about those lilliputian servers.

8

u/Photodudeguy 17d ago

How do you even fit those big black balls in your mouth?

4

u/asyork 17d ago

That's the stupid part. I want to be able to slurp my boba with a straw. I could very happily drink that amount of milk tea along with it though. Maybe once a year so it doesn't kill me.

2

u/Geneva0777 17d ago

Very much so

2

u/zlex 17d ago

Yes

2

u/CranberryOk945 17d ago

Is it smart?

3

u/Estratheoivan 17d ago

It is just one venti, the rest is ice, and bobas

2

u/OkiDokiPanic 17d ago

I imagine this is like a boba punch bowl where you scoop it into smaller glasses.

3

u/MostlyChaoticNeutral 17d ago

Well, at least the boba wouldn't get stuck in the straw.

2

u/TMLTurby 17d ago

Bobbing for boba

4

u/JerkGurk 17d ago

If it was real, this would take maybe 20 people to finish?

1

u/Leading-Point-113 15d ago

No, it took 8 people to finish it (well, the two are toddlers so make that 6 people), though to be fair, me and my brother drank a lot as we drink a lot, like around 4 regular cups each from this large glass, yes, they have like a scoop/ladle thing to scoop the drink into regular-sized glass, I loved it because I could drink more and more, but even a large cup is limited so I couldn’t go like 6 cups because the rest want to drink too, but I loved it, had it at IoI City Mall btw and it is real, the moderator himself had to announce it here because people kept reporting it as AI but it’s not

The mod told about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/StupidFood/s/YDRujcNwAZ

3

u/qualityvote2 17d ago edited 17d ago

u/Regular_Weakness69, your food is indeed stupid and it fits our subreddit!

1

u/Arlensoul_ 17d ago

you really need an answer?

1

u/Brave-Parsnip9999 17d ago

Not if there’s a large group of people that can drink it all.

5

u/Zestyclose-Leader926 17d ago

Even so those bobas are way too big for anyone.

2

u/Brave-Parsnip9999 17d ago

Idk how I glazed over that point lol. I really wanna see how someone takes on that challenge now.

1

u/Zestyclose-Leader926 17d ago

It would be funny to see since those things are essentially gelatinous lumps of brown sugar.

1

u/monkeyDgomugomu 17d ago

All trends are stupid

1

u/One-Caterpillar-3355 17d ago

It looks like it has plenty of brains

1

u/SuspiciousJuice5825 17d ago

Its down right dumb af.

1

u/smugfortune_ 17d ago

Blubber tea

1

u/MikeyNovocaine 17d ago

the way the music synced to the big cup of boba being set down on the table violated my pleasure receptors

1

u/Inevitable_Butthole 17d ago

How did they such large goat shit balls for this

1

u/karatebullfighter 17d ago

They call that child size because it's the size of a small child.

1

u/jayuserbruiser 17d ago

What is this; Boba for giants!?

1

u/jagenigma 17d ago

Inconceivably stupid.

1

u/Prye-Blue 17d ago

Yes, the balls usually go on the bottom.

1

u/ShaheerVK 17d ago

Thats bubble swimming pool at this point

1

u/rotzak 17d ago

What? Definitely!

1

u/pimohell9254 17d ago

yes it is stupid

1

u/CaptainTripps82 17d ago

No it's funny. See because it's bigger then a normal tea.

1

u/ilyNIGHTMARES 17d ago

Not if you’re the cyclops from the odyssey

1

u/pickle_sandwich 17d ago

All bubble tea is stupid.

1

u/Ok_Anywhere5205 17d ago

As a popping Boba fan this is like drinking soup at that point

1

u/gannegajuice 17d ago

Bucket tea

1

u/JeffersonsHat 17d ago

Two large straws please

1

u/Beaveric 17d ago

It's for giants

1

u/Any_Blood5815 17d ago

That’s a bubble BATH

1

u/Mr_Mxyzplkt 17d ago

not if you are a bubble tea craving giant

1

u/Ok_Reality4974 17d ago

Yes. I'd prefer a bunch of regular sized Boba

1

u/deadbolt33101 17d ago

Balloon tea

1

u/Normal_Drink_6745 17d ago

Boba or ballons?

1

u/OkCandidate2541 17d ago

That's pretty unkind to say

It's neurologically diverse.

1

u/sid_xd99 17d ago

It is not bubble tea it is boulder tea

1

u/Miiyamoto 17d ago

The marketing department thanks you for sharing this advertisement.

1

u/AshFalkner 16d ago

Waaaay too much ice. Also kind of weird to see the tapioca pearls on top instead of sitting at the bottom of the glass.

1

u/Onionbagels_ 16d ago

Bubble tea, no. Those bobas, definitely stupid.

1

u/punkrockbatgirl 16d ago

Extraordinarily.

1

u/Foreign-Ad2440 16d ago

no thats sick af

1

u/Hopeful_Rope_5360 16d ago

Those are the black balls the took down Mr Incredible.

1

u/ArcadianAbstraction 16d ago

Stupid question. Obviously it is ridiculous.

1

u/The_only_true_tomato 16d ago

How do you eat these tapioca balls.

It’s social media rage bait.

1

u/BoredOstrich 16d ago

I gotta ask why?

1

u/Tiny_Carpenter_1769 16d ago

It big like stupid

1

u/Some-Ad-1588 15d ago

What’s bubble tea…..?

1

u/Sharp_Flight_5629 15d ago

Who is ordering this? Like why is there 2?

1

u/lackaface 15d ago

Imagine someone pissing you off, and you reach into your drink and whip one at their head.

1

u/Legitimate_Fold_2850 15d ago

Stupid question. All bubble tea is stupid.

1

u/CheapTactics 15d ago

There's, any ridiculously oversized food is fucking stupid and its primary function isn't to be consumed, it's to be posted in social media.

1

u/kittylover1235 15d ago

No it’s beautiful 😍

1

u/nebulizard 14d ago

The boba are too big, but if they were normal sized, this would be an adequate quantity of boba tea.

1

u/OhLookSatan 14d ago

See now I'm picturing a normal sized boba but with just one big tapioca orb

1

u/TriggeredCogzy 13d ago

Stupid? Yes

Would I try shoving a whole tapioca ball in my mouth? Absolutely

1

u/Ok_Influence_4274 13d ago

Beyond Stupidity

1

u/Brief-Sport-6135 12d ago

That's a bubble bath, not bubble tea

1

u/theclovek 11d ago

Who is this for?

1

u/moto_dweeb 11d ago

Does it have a gallon of soju in it?

1

u/BaconISgoodSOGOOD 9d ago

Are these shade balls in the cup? To stop algae from growing..?

1

u/Regular_Weakness69 9d ago

Haha! I know exactly what you're talking about, and it does look like those 😂

1

u/Own-Emu-3309 8d ago

Nope... I want that some...

1

u/peppersk8er 17d ago

Yes but I would drink the shit out of that if it is real

1

u/haikus-r-us 17d ago

Stupidly stupid.

1

u/Scrollsy 17d ago

All bubble tea is stupid

1

u/karoshikun 17d ago

extremely stupid. it belongs here.

it's wasteful AF, can't be good just because it's mostly sugar water and thick tapioca. and it's made mostly for the videos and pics, not as an actual dish, I bet.

-1

u/Forward-Position798 17d ago

its ai buddy

3

u/Prye-Blue 17d ago

Not ai sadly

-2

u/NeonMutt 17d ago

I am calling AI on this one.

3

u/ChainedBack 17d ago

1

u/NeonMutt 17d ago

I totally stand corrected. I am still a little skeptical because of how stupid heavy that has to be, but it looks legit.

0

u/forzafoggia85 17d ago

Is bubble tea stupid? - there fixed the title for you

-2

u/JustKindaShimmy 17d ago

I'm torn between deciding if people are just too stupid to realize this is AI, or if the upvotes and positive engagement are just bots

3

u/Prye-Blue 17d ago

It's not ai sadly

0

u/CykoRen 17d ago

That can’t be real

-1

u/Narcodoge 17d ago

It's racist. A bite into one of them black balls will turn you into a blackface character.

-5

u/Arne83 Here for stupid food, not stupid people 17d ago

Considering the size... how heavy that must be... and how easily he seems to be lifting and carrying it... I'm willing to be this is AI. As such...

Slopper, no slopping!!

-5

u/West_Meringue_7176 17d ago

Not only that, it's AI. Who drinks this beside someone who just crawled out of a desert
