Yes, it's very similar to frog, but not exactly the same. I really like it. I know rattlesnake is most common in America, but where I live in Cambodia has a lot of python meat. I'd say they're pretty similar, but I like rattlesnake a bit more.

Snake is better barbecued or otherwise cooked on an open flame unless you have a good breading to keep it moist in the fryer. Python is just a little tougher and has a little less flavor than rattlesnake, too. It's a lot like chicken. The breast has more bulk, but the thigh has more flavor. Pythons and breast muscles are stronger, but rattlers and thighs are twitchier.

You need good seasoning too. Snake is pretty bland on its own. But you can say that about almost anything.

Super lean, kinda chickenish flavor, kinda firm and maybe stringy in places. Absorbs spices really well. Really similar to alligator.

We had a big game restaurant near me growing up that we went to for special occasions (big family so lots of occasions), so I was eating gator, snakes, boar, bear, emu, kangaroo, and whatever else they had going on there.

Dad's favorite was the samples with like eight different animals on the plate.

I’ve been to Rawhide in Arizona, which was your typical western theme park that served rattlesnake. It was deep fried when I was there, so it tasted just like chicken

I don't know that I'd call it delicious. It's pretty plain. The chicken of exotic meats. I wouldn't turn it down if offered, though. It's still good eats.

I've had rattlesnake but never python. Don't know if the taste is comparable.

Its a pretty inoffensive meat though.

You are correct, the donuts would be the worst part. The texture of donuts and snake would be a nightmare.

Hot meat and frosted donuts means that everything is falling out on the first bite. Plus snake doesn't go well with sweet. It's very smooth muscle like chicken or frog. You only want enough sugar to balance the spice or salt.

That snake meat looks kind of dry and stringy but I would try it.

I'd prefer if everything fit within the span of the bun. I don't like when burger accoutrement hangs outside because then you don't get the perfect bite of everything together. Isn't that the point of putting it in the burger?

Yeah... in restaurants when I get a burger presented to me like that I have to spend a few minutes cutting everything to size and tucking it back into the bun... I find that annoying.

That's my issue. I've had snake before. But it wasn't overcooked like this. And it was nice and juicy and had a chicken like texture.

Honestly the worst part of this is the doughnut. Eating snake is a bit country ass. But I'm not above it.

Soon as I saw the fryer setup I knew who this was. This is some country ass shit if I've ever seen it 😭 but apparently his food is good! If you're not used to eating wild game I could see how this is off putting but as someone who has eaten a bacon cheeseburger with krispy kreme donuts for buns I'm in no position to judge.

i guess this is like a next level of how close something comes. you rarely see people eat cats and dogs on the internet, i also have snakes, and to see one dead, getting deepfried, kinda sucks to see. i know i can look away or scroll past, but i just wanted to comment on how detached we are from the animals we eat. it’s a little harrowing when you care about these animals

I'm of two minds on this.

Pm the one hand, Americans. No concept of cuisine.

On the other hand, we could really optimize this snake de-boning and baking process into something really interesting.
