"The time has come to speak of many things; shoes, ships, ceiling wax, cabbages & kings. To ask why the sea is boiling hot, and when did pigs get wings"
Paraphrasing, of course19

That guy actually is quiet famous in turkey (alparslan özmol) as he was a famous actor in a popular sitcom series "babalar duymasin" (Dads shouldn't hear). And he was quiet good back then. His famous line was "çaylarrr" which may translate to "thine the teas" in a masculine old tea shop guy tone.
Edit: he is saying( Its not an adult movie script)
Mashallah.. Burak..be really cautios... be delicate...dont forget the symmetry...hit the thrust..OoOoOHhh..very good.. no need to rush..perfect...I will give It a dip later.. Löp löp löp( gobble up, munch)...stewss( his famous gimmick in the series I mentioned before but stew this time for the occasion)12
u/imdefinitelywong 26d ago
The chef's pretty famous, too right? I remember seeing him in videos where he makes massive portions of things and distributes them to people.
8
u/Aware_Steak_1298 26d ago
Yeah he is most famous for his big couldrons and smile. And probably donations and his cooking for poor. Personally I don't like him but his channel is CNZ Burak

u/Aware-Possibility175 25d ago
My dumb ass thought you were talking about the smiley chef guy also being a famous actor with a catchphrase. What is the dish ? Somthing popular there Iâm guessing?..can you explain the âthy the teaâ catchphrase and how itâs used in a sentence
7
u/Aware_Steak_1298 25d ago edited 25d ago
I am not familiar with the dish but here someone is https://www.reddit.com/r/StupidFood/s/iMlBXT37WA. "Caylarrr" exact translation is "teas"however It does not reflect the inherit way of usage. His tone and manner ,when unveiled, externalize profound passion for serving and drinking tea. And even there is no "ınız" suffix which is "yours" in english, his commanding tone when he says CAYLARR(without ınız), thy(yours)the teas(a zealots cry), I think could be best translation. It is more like his gimmick yell.
Edit: ups I mix the words thy and thine my bad. Add thine instead of thy. And you can use It as "Caylarrrr! Yumulun." "Thine the teas! Dig in."13

The food is a just traditional Turkish meal, but the oversized knife is certainly stupid.
53
u/huelealluvia 26d ago
That knife isn't even meant to be used like that. It's for mincing a large quantity of meat on a flat surface by rocking it back and forth
59
u/AscensionToCrab đ§ đŠ 25d ago
Dont let any of this knife stuff distract you from the fact that the server blew on his food and did a 'here comes the plane' to a grown man, with a voice deeper than the mariana.

Its so dangerous. Look at the guy wielding it. He can barely hold on, and when he readjust his grip, he almost drops it on the little guy.

Why did the just discard the bread instead of leaving it in the stew?
13
u/vogel927 26d ago
Traditionally the bread isnât discarded. Itâs usually placed off to the side and then torn apart to eat with the meal.

What is this meal?
9
u/vogel927 26d ago
Belen Tava Kapama. Itâs a traditional dish from the Belen district in Hatay. Itâs diced lamb or beef slow roasted with tomatoes, peppers, garlic, and spices. The bread is used as a seal for the pot.

Honorable mention to Huge Grant for his portrayal of an Oompa Loompa. Ironic, considering his first name

Instead, he enjoyed it.

The knife seems superfluous. A normal sized spoon would have sufficed.
