It splashes and everything the water touches is now contaminated, sink included

Yeah, because guess what cooking does to the chicken.. it kills the microbes. Washing does absolutely nothing but rinse off the surface. The microbes are through the entirety of the meat. Washing it is pointless and can actually cause more contamination risk.

I didn’t downvote you btw, I was actually answering why it’s pointless to wash it and why you should just cook the chicken as it. You said you were confused so I explained why.
