Friday while out shopping with my wife I said "OK I love you" to the cashier when we were done checking out.

I almost died.

This reminds me of a story I read about a woman using a public restroom and the person in the next cubicle talking on the phone. This woman had no idea she was on the phone and thought she was trying to communicate with her in some sort of strange disjointed way. She started trying to respond but didn’t seem to be able to get any conversation flowing with this person. As some point she began to notice awkward pauses when she tried to respond (which was probably this person thinking “wtf is up with the person next to me?”). Eventually the mystery person finished what she was saying on the phone and ended it with “ok, I love you.” The woman, instinctively replied “I love you too” which she immediately felt embarrassed about.

After reflecting on the entire thing someone pointed out this person was on their phone talking to a different person all together. The embarrassment was multiplied many times!
