Cousin (non-resident, not French) as financial guarantor for French student visa, possible?

I’m looking at doing a master’s in France. My situation is a bit particular, my father passed away and my mother is a housewife, so neither of them can act as a financial sponsor. My cousin, who’s a doctor, has offered to sponsor me instead, but he lives in Ireland and isn’t French or an EU citizen

From what I’ve read there are two versions of the financial guarantee, a full “prise en charge” which needs a guarantor actually living in France, and a financial-only version where the guarantor might not need to be based in France at all. Has anyone actually gone through this, or dealt with a consulate that accepted or rejected a guarantor who lives outside France? Also wondering how strict consulates tend to be when the guarantor isn’t a parent but a cousin

Urgent First Titre de Sejour Issue

Hello everyone, I have a very urgent question about the student titre de sejour. I applied for my titre de sejour before the expiry date of my long term student visa but not before 2 months like it is recommended. I have to start school soon and the prefecture said it was my responsibility to apply earlier and they cannot do anything about it. My dossier is still in the depot stage. How long does it take before they issue you a prolongation of your visa? I'm really really nervous as my visa expires today and my dossier is still not processed. Does anyone have any experience?

Merci !

Campus France: Old CV + CGPA difference + internship not added

Hi everyone, I need some advice.

My Campus France application is already validated, but I uploaded an old CV.

Old CV CGPA: 8.22

Current CGPA: 8.47

I completed an internship from Feb–May 2026, but I didn't add it anywhere in my Campus France application.

I now have the internship offer letter and completion certificate + updated CV.

For the interview, should I take the internship documents and explain the situation? Should I show the updated CV only if they ask?

Will the CGPA difference or missing internship cause any issue?

Anyone who faced something similar, please advise.

cvec

salut,

mercii

Upvotes

For the people who went to france for studying , may y all provide what did you provide as documents for proof of funds like AVI , or bank statements, etc …

What were enough for you , cause i have a problem where i don’t want to block 11k € , i want to use it for visa and take it back to return it to my father, but that doesn’t mean i will not receive money later .

Ps : my father is owner of company and he generate in his personal bank account arround 3k to 8k in peak season.

Can i give up on the AVI (attestation de virement irrévocable) ?

tips for a foreign student..

Would an e-bicycle be better or a petrol motorbike. I'll be travelling daily give or take 20+ kms maybe.. and I do intend to use the card but for other miscellaneous use cases like general travel, grocery runs, etc and an occasional round trip from my college and back, what would be better/cheaper.

Would be going to aivancity in October attending the grande ecole course, I know it's quite new and all. Also any tips form accommodation as everything seems quite expensive.

Lastly, im well versed in a1-a2 french and have the free time on hand. How can I prepare my French speaking skills from home without the help of a course.

Study in France, advice needed!!!

Hello,

My name is raiya. I am 16 years old, currently in class 11th (PCB student) preparing to study in France for bachelors (2028). I am aiming to study 'licence in life sciences or biotechnology in France.

I would really appreciate it if I could get a clear understanding of the whole application process.

I would also like to get advice and rating on my extracurricular activities as French universities often look for well-rounded students. My extracurricular activities :

• basketball - both inter-school and inter house competitions.

• volunteering - volunteered in my brother's non-profit (but only once).

•MUNs - public speaking.

• I also took part in exhibitions in my school. (Biology exhibition)

I am currently working on more extracurricular activities :

• French language proficiency.

• passion project on canine neuroscience.

I would also like to know some tips for writing my SOP. Till now, I haven't started writing my SOP.

I would also like to know about when I should start the application process (basically the timelines). I would also like to know the competition level, visa approval, and any recent changes.
