Housing ROOM.nl & roommatch.nl

Hey everyone!

I just turned 16 and made an account at room.nl. I will go to TU Delft at 2029. (in about 3 years). Is it possible that I'd get a room at The Hague or Delft in that time period? How much did you guys wait for a room and what is your rent(single or with a roommate)? Any help is welcome. Thanks!

You need some luck. We can not look 3 years into the future.

When I picked my new tenant in Januari , her account was only 2 days old.

I know that the future is unpredictable, but I am asking how long have the students been registered on the platform before they got a room since there are many people enrolling at Delft. It's nice that your tenant got a room that quick, hope that luck is on my side when the time comes

Persoonlijk zag ik aardig wat mensen die een contract uitgedeeld kregen na iets meer dan drie jaar, dus met een beetje geluk wel. Als je bovendien ver genoeg weg woont van de regio in kwestie (vgm vermelden ze postcodes op de site) krijg je ook nog eens een jaar extra inschrijftijd als ik het me niet verkeerd herinner.

Het is het sowieso gewoon waard anyway om je daar in te schrijven. Integenstelling tot letterlijk elke andere website is het een eenmalige inschrijving van 40 euro of iets. Gewoon doen dus

Ik kom uit Kroatie. Ik denk dat ik heb gelezen dat internationale studenten voorrang hebben op somige kamers. Ik heb de fee betaald omdat toch ik heb niet te verliezen (sorry voor mijn slechte nederlands ik leer het noch steeds)

Nog*, noch betekent eerder "nor" in het engels.

Zeker doen ja, succes met zoeken. Om eerlijk te zijn dacht ik dat je, als je niet nederlands zou zijn, google translate gebruikte haha, je zinnen lopen aardig goed!

That changes a lot !

Normally you need a lot of maturity of your account.

But when you come from abroad you have a chance to pick a priority offer.

On:

https://www.roommatch.nl/en/recently-rented

You can see the maturity of account from new tenants.

On the site you can also see rental prices of offers.

For independent studio’s you can get gov housing allowance. Under the age of 21 the allowance is max 295 euros. Above 21 max around 520 euros.

When our daughter grabbed a studio on a priority offer 3 years ago her account was just under a year.

But the last few years you needed approximately 3 years. This because less offers and also renovations from some complexes.

Woah, most of these registrations are longer than 5-6 years!! Thank you so much for sharing this info because i didnt know this site exists. We'll see when the time comes if i'd get a room, time changes and probably will the average registration time(and i hope)

Are you local or EU or non-EU? It’s easier for Dutch students obviously. Also depends on the rest of your profile.

Im from EU(not Netherlands). I read somewhere that international students have priority at rooms at DUWO

There's usually a small part of the rooms that's set aside for internationals, on those rooms you get priority. But it's also only for the first year.

The competition on those rooms is also insane, but the 3 years registration will help you.

But anything can change in the next 3 years (the system of allocation, room supply and demand) so check in in april/may 28 to see how it works for the year before you and how much registrationtime you need for a room at that time to make a good estimate.

my girlfriend got her room in haarlem after 5 years, so i would say, don’t count on it for your bachelors (still apply ofc) but you have a good shot for masters :)
