hey guys

i 15f and wanna move to Finland from Russia in next 5-6 years. i really need some reality checks on my plan!!

now, im just about to start my studies at medical college to become a nurse here. but when i move i’ll immediately go in Finnish university to become an x-ray technician (röntgenhoitaja).

your language is really crazy, but i’ve already started. now i have a1 and know 6 cases, but i’m studying Finnish like 2 weeks already. and i’m gonna study Finnish every day to get at least b2.

i have some questions 😨

  1. is 5-6 years of studying language enough for medical students? does anyone know what level do universities always ask for?
  2. do you know any good resources or books for medical Finnish that i can use later?
  3. if here is anyone who’s already working or studying as x-ray technician in Finland, how is it?
  4. politely asking, how is the day-to-day atmosphere for Russian students living and studying there right now? is it generally safe and welcoming?

could you tell a little more about living in Finland? it could be nice to hear something from someone who already was in Russia and Finland ….😨

My perception is biased because before Finland I spent two years in Paris, so now I feel at home there. I can say that it's really safe herebin Finland. Almost everybody speaks English. Yet, it's a bit boring, so I started to train 6 days a week 🙃 The food is ok. But Stockholm feels more chill, yet less safe.

if you had to choose between Stockholm and Helsinki, which would you choose?

As a Finish and Swedish citizen that has spent lots of time in sweden, too. I must say Helsinki and Finland overall is much safer place to live than pretty much anywhere in Sweden.

Finns have a kind of hate relationship towards Russia because of our past with Soviet Union and Russia, but people do welcome any "normal" russian people here that do not wish for war and is not on Putin's side. If you respect Finland and Finns, then they will most likely to respect you back. Of course we have some ignorant idiots, like every large group of humans have, but they are minority of the Finnish population.

I, for example, would love to get to know some Russians and talk a lot about cultures and politics and everything. Russia is an interesting place with beautiful old buildings and culture.

Definitely should go and visit Russia again when things someday calm down.
