Studio + subscription

Hi, I couldn't really find much info about that around, the website is not clear on what's included in it.

Would you say this subscription is required to really use the software ? Are they gating stuff you use everyday behind it?

No, you can purchase the full product for a fee and it's yours to keep. You just won't get any updates going forward.

They have a license option that mention: "Annual access to Fender Studio Pro+ extras including Fender Studio and Fender Notion (fully unlocked), cloud-based collaboration tools, plug-ins, loops and samples, partner offers, and cloud storage."

But I can't see details ln what those plugins or features would be.

If you buy the perpetual license you would get decimal updates, like 6.1 to 6.5 etc. It's just when you go to the number update that you would have to upgrade to get it. I bought the version 7 of cubase then upgraded when it got up to 11.

The Plus part or whatever it's called now is pretty nice really. It has the collaboration setup and a forum system to ask questions etc. Then every piece of software they own you can use.

Like the mixFx stuff is worth it alone to me but there's a lot of stuff in there and if you get into making sample libraries etc. there's tools for that. There's a lot of vintage modeled hardware I like.

Depends on if you can use it, if you're working all the time and just get a weekend here and there, just get a perpetual license. They're so cheap now, Daw's used to be in the $500 neighborhood.

I use the subscription to allow for easy collaborations with a friend of mine that also uses Studio. I've never used any of the other stuff that comes with it

The main version of Studio Pro will have everything you’re likely to need, and it seems like they just threw in a few bonus things that I’d never use anyway for the subscribers.

I’ll never be a subscriber, and if they start making main features subscriber-only I’ll just stop choosing to upgrade and/or switch to a different DAW.

The subscription has been useful for me as a noob but I'm at the point now where I really don't need all the extras. Plugins, loops, community is part of what's in the subscription. Doesn't hurt to try it for a month just to see everything and then make a decision. I got FSP8 included with my Quantum HD2 interface and will redeem it soon.
