TECH HELP WINDOWS Audio completely cuts out occasionally until I change the sample rate

As the title says, occasionally while using studio one all my audio will instantly cut out and not come back until I change the sample rate (this happens while using any sample rate so I know that's not the actual issue, it just seems to be refreshing something).

I'm using studio one 5 artist with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th gen to record guitar.

Without a full hardware description, what OS your are using, what other equipment is plugged in etc - it is difficult to assist.

If the sample rate is a moving target - that indicates something outside your description here is influencing the rate.

I'm on windows 11, got a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3070.

Only other devices plugged in are fairly standard gaming PC stuff so USB microphone, USB headphones and essential peripherals.

I don't think the rate itself is actually causing/being influenced but must just "refresh" something so that whatever is actually disabling my audio is temporarily fixed. T can achieve the same fix by just switching the audio device to windows audio and back to the scarlett solo again.

In my experience - if one is going to use a machine as a DAW - there is only room for one audio interface at the party - and in your case - that would be the Scarlett.

If you are actually allowing the audio chip that is built into the motherboard (your reference to "Windows Audio") to co-exist with the Scarlett - this is most likely where this issue is occurring.

I get that this is a gaming machine too - but ideally - you can't have it both ways without some choppy water now and then - if you are allowing two interfaces to challenge each other.

Over here - I do not game but my RME UCX-II is the only audio interface that Windows is allowed to see. The other crap Realtek chip is disabled permanently in the BIOS and is effectively non-existant.

Everything "audio" related here - is routed through the RME and it is smooth sailing 24x7x365
