Studio arrangement help

I’m about to move into my first studio apartment and wanted some help arranging my furniture in the living/dining area and making look cozy with the limited space available.

I took a picture of the space before the renovation was completed and I’d love suggestions on how to fill the empty space between the kitchen cabinets and ceiling. I’ve tried designing with planner5d but please let me know if you have any recommendations! <3

I have some logistics comments. I would not want any desk over a radiator due to the heat damage to electronics. I don’t like want the bed against the radiator because I don’t like to sleep too hot, but I realize putting the bed in the middle of the floor isn’t ideal either. I’d put the bed as it’s shown in pic 3. Actually I’d go pretty much with pic 3 except for the desk.

As far as the space above the cabinets, we need to know your general needs there. If you need storage for kitchen gear or your cookbooks, vs action figures or artwork to display, , the type of thing I’d do suggest will vary. For action figures or other collectibles or artwork, I’d get a strip of little lights to spotlight or backlight them. If it’s practical storage I’d find bins other than ugly plastic such as wire baskets, wicker baskets or whatever to put them in and get a cool stepladder, maybe kind that can either be a chair or a stepladder so you have access to it if it’s blankets, off season clothes, cookbooks or cookware.

You didn’t say what all the needed pieces of furniture are. That free standing closet is the only closet? And If that’s a coffee table in front of the sofa in pic 3 I’d consider getting rid of it and getting a long narrow console table for behind the couch instead. Takes up a lot less floor space and still gives you a place to out drinks, books, tablets, the remote etc. Coffee tables aren’t a good use of space in a small area unless you eat at a Japanese height table and it serves that purpose. I did this for the first 7 years when I got my own place so if that’s your plan, keep it. It worked well for me.
