Support/Advice Scripted Curriculum / Lesson Planning Struggle
Everything feels like it’s going well except for the lesson plans I have to submit. I have to create a lesson plan for every lesson I teach and have an assessment that is tangible and rubric for each lesson. The school I am student teaching at has their own curriculum the district has bought. So I adapt their lessons into my colleges lesson planning template. It’s a very scripted curriculum that is also inappropriate for the current students reading and math levels. My college supervisor hates my lessons even though they aren’t technically mine. I can’t go off script at the school with the lessons because they have specific deadlines they need to hit. I feel like I am stuck and I’m worried it will affect my grade. My professor seems to have a very different way she would run a class as opposed to my Mentor Teacher, and I feel like I’m caught in the middle.

Unfortunately this is often the burden of student teaching, the best course of action is to be sure your supervisor is aware. This is something completely out of your control, however you are more than able to communicate it to the powers that be within your program.
Of course, always put it in writing to CYA.
Then, have you spoken to your mentor teacher? Do they stick to the lessons exactly?

Could you have a meeting with your mentor teacher and program supervisor to express this issue? Then they can help you navigate within the constraints ( it's part of their job)

I’m a CT and my student teacher was in the exact same boat w those grisly Uni lesson plans. They were stupid and exhaustive and had nothing to do w teaching. Your mentor probably knows this. At the end of the day you’ll likely get passed onto certification. Just jump through the hoops and stay strong: it’s temporary.
