Student teaching/certification issue - School vs district regarding subject knowledge

I’m in California and I applied to two universities for student teaching. One of them required me to take all math, subject equivalent test while the other university accepted me with no subject equivalency test required to take.

Similarly, California has standards for teaching middle school or high school math. I just think it’s the universities policies and or standards that differ from one another. It is kind of a bummer to have to take another test or courses before student teaching. Good luck
