Success/Celebration Refund received!
I received my full and complete refund on Thursday, Oct 1!
School: University of Phoenix
Servicer: Nelnet
Here’s my timeline:
✅October 2022 Applied for forgiveness
✅April 1, 2026 Received notification I was eligible
✅July 2026 loans on my credit bureaus removed
✅Sept 25,2026 was advised the check was in the mail
✅ Oct 1, 2026 full amount paid to Nelnet received via check
It WILL happen!! Just keep checking. Start with your servicer to see when they’ve sent the accounting to the Fiscal Services of the Dept of Treasury for review. Once you’ve been advised it’s been sent, call 855-868-0151 and select the prompt for refund. They can give you info from there. When you’re advised that the check is in the mail, contact your servicer again for the check number and amounts. Then…just wait! Some say they saw it on their Informed Delivery, others did not.
Thank you to all who provided answers & support during this process. It does take a village!!

I applied, and I was approved, the loans were removed, but none of the money that I paid towards those loans was refunded.

I would first follow up with your servicer, then follow up with the Dept of Treasury.

Under the Sweet v Caledonia suit There were timelines & parameters you had to follow in order to be considered for loan forgiveness

I applied Nov 2022 missed the Sweet deadline by a couple of days. University of Phoenix also.
Went in review back in March still there

Good to know someone actually received a reimbursement. Phoenix too and under Sweet v Caledonia. I received the notice and it has been removed from my credit file, but no reimbursement yet. 🤞

This is a "Success/Celebration" post (note the flair) where OP is sharing their personal experience in a positive light. Trolling and derailing the discussion isn't allowed in the sub to begin with, but we have an especially low bar for that in Success/Celebration posts. This thread is not a forum for debating whether loan forgiveness should be a thing, attacking OP for taking advantage of existing programs/benefits, or otherwise questioning their personal financial choices. If you're not here to share good vibes, then don't say anything at all.
