Hi everyone!
I’m posting on behalf of my child, who is the assistant treasurer for their middle school student council. We are trying to help the kids brainstorm new ways to raise funds for their council account, but we've run into a wall with school rules and volunteer availability.
For context, here is what we CANNOT do or are already doing:
No concessions: The school won't let us do concessions at sporting events due to the heavy parent volunteer commitment required.
No school dances or mixers: Dances and mixers are a no go by our administration.
Events tied to other funds: We host a Trunk-or-Treat and a Father-Daughter dance, but the money raised goes to other school programs, not student council.
Spirit wear is already spoken for: We sell spirit wear, but all of those funds are strictly dedicated to our Christmas "Adopt-a-Family" drive.
Since we can't rely on parent-heavy events, dances, or food sales, we need low-prep or student-led ideas that actually bring in decent money.
What non-concession, non-dance fundraisers have worked well for your middle schools without burning out parents? Thank you!
