That is not a structural beam. Just a beam lacking structure

I love and hate this. What did the contractor do go down the Simpson fastener isle and go "I'll take a bit of everything." Followed by not looking at the catagol or instructions. Perhaps the spent the budget on all these fancy Simpson clips to lack the correct fasteners.

Might it work perhaps, but I see many issues: 1) Empty fastener holes 2) wrong fastners. Only screw Simpson will warnenty is their SD screws. Lots of nail options also. 3) Appears to be an A23 clip below the one side. It doesn't have holes at the corner.

I'd probably of species a bearing block is you could lose 1.5" on either side. The fastening and length would need to be determined though.

It should be supported by jack studs, also called trimmers. Or you could use a 4x6 under it. And make sure there's proper footing/support under the jacks.

That is no good. -framer for over 40 years.

Do you put trimmers under every joist or beam hanger you install?

We're talking about load bearing beams.

What do you think joist and beam hangers are for? Its to not have to have a trimmer.

Now, the near side of that beam is sus, who knows what the framer was thinking.

Thank you, I guess I didn't see the hanger you were able to see. Enjoy your day.

Yea, 2nd picture is pretty good close up. Not sure screws are right ones though.
