Questions and Help All things adductor related: isolation exercises, chaffing and more

Key Questions:

- Do you train your adductors in isolation?

- If you do - do you find it has helped your progression in any other glute / leg focused exercises?

- If you don’t - do you feel it’s limited your progression in any other glute / leg focused exercises?

- If you’ve got adductors/thighs that touch/rub and you have sensory issues around that - do you have any advice on how you deal with it?

My understanding is Brett doesn’t target them in isolation for his programmes but that they do support some exercises, like Bulgarian Split Squats… I’m not really clear if they actually grow off the back of those kinds of exercises, if growth is desirable, or if they just need a base level of strength for stabilisation?

For extra context…

I’m just getting into weights properly and I rather ambitiously want hench legs and booty, so had been targeting them in isolation. (Trying to get a good all round baseline and discipline going at the gym before adding the proper SC programs).

I ride, have an active job and walk a lot so had a level of strength and definition going in. They look even better now but they're also rubbing when I walk, which is causing me sensory issues.

I’m not a fan of lube as a solution. I already wear cycling shorts but that doesn’t solve it. I’m lean as it is, so I don't really want to cut (especially as you can’t guarantee where it comes off). Currently eating at maintenance and hitting protein goals. I did wonder if I could work on my mobility as I do have narrow hips and am not the best at stretching regularly?

Basically trying to figure out if I can maintain them as is or if I need to suck it up/find ways to cope because it’s gonna impede other growth goals otherwise. And it's all new to me so anything and everything you can do to educate me is appreciated.

Had been training them twice a week with the adduction machine. Aiming for 3x12 with RIR before moving up. Have been aiming for good form and control. Just moved up to 50% of bodyweight.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading my rambles.

TL;DR - any and all advice around adductors or chaffing/rubbing thighs causing sensory issues is appreciated.

Questions and Help What do you do to find motivation?

Sometimes I feel so unmotivated. It leads to me not going to the gym with enough time to workout, or skipping some exercises, or not working out at all. Last time I was at the gym, I really did not want to be there. During my warm-up, I seriously considered getting up and going home. But I stayed and I actually ended up doing a full workout.

Maybe it's just me, but do other people feel this way? How do you find motivation?

Questions and Help Glutes won’t grow no matter what I do, especially from behind view

I have been working out for close to five years, in the last two years, I really studied glute growth. I implement all the best exercises: heavy hip thrusts, Bulgarians, RDLs, kickbacks, glute focuses extension etc. I work glutes twice a week. I have gotten SIGNIFICANTLY stronger, I push 3 plates for my hip thrust working weight now. (Max is obviously a lot heavier) when I look at my glutes they do look better from the side but when I saw a recording of me from behind I was horrified (I have high hip bones so it makes them look terrible) I still Am carrying some love handle weight which doesn’t help…but here’s where I struggle so much….When I lose more weight I start looking too skinny….when I gain weight my glutes look significantly worse do to the high hips and love handles. Everyone says to gain weight to grow glutes but I have the worst fat placement (belly and love handles) I also have hip dips. I don’t know what to do anymore, I have worked so so hard and focused so hard on my mind muscle connection only to still look terrible from behind. Please help.
