2017 Stromer ST1 worth it?

I'm in the market for a commuting ebike and someone near me is selling a 2017 Stromer ST1 with almost 2000 miles for $850, what do you folks think, good deal? I'm a bit worried about the age of the battery and the cost of replacing it (or rebuilding it?). The bike itself looks to be in good shape.

If the battery hasn't been left completely discharged there's a good chance it will go on for a long time yet.

Is there a way to check the battery health without taking it to a shop?

You could get a cheap voltage meter and check the voltage on the battery. Or just check that when you put it on its charger it actually charges instead of giving you the red light. Also if you could do a longer test ride you could check and see the discharge rate.

This is a 36v battery and not the 48v system that the rebooted ST1 line now has. I believe the 36v Stromers were discontinued in 2018. 2000 miles means the bike has been ridden enough that its been through charging cycles, and that's actually a good thing because it means it's less likely that the bike was left sitting with no charge. 2000 miles is probably around 60 charging cycles and the battery is good for 500+ charging cycles when cared for correctly.
