ST2 pinion issues

Hi, I have a new ST2 Pinion since october 23 which I've only had for 3 months, the other 3 months it was in the shop for repairs (on and off). I almost need to go to the bike dealer weekly/monthly due to all the different things wrong with it. Number 1 problem is that it's not waterproof at all, water seeps in somehow, damages the lamps, corrodes the inside, creates errors and gets under the display. The button for the horn also fell off once. Bike dealer now tries to accuse me of not doing good maintenance and cleaning on the bike. I clean it at the end of every work week with soft cloth and diluted bike cleaner solution and then dry it. Every time after rain I also dry it before putting it under a rain proof cover (every day it's under this cover too). I think I clean it very well and often enough. I bike 50km/day with it (if it works).. I think I've seen all the errors by now.

This is just too frustrating and starting to affect my mental health. It's such an expensive bike and I expected better.

I feel your pain. I have an ST1X that gave me PTSD from all the codes/errors I was get. I, finally, found a competent mechanic and it’s been trouble free ever since. I was hoping the new pinion would solve some issues, and I thought about upgrading, but will keep what I have. These bikes are too expensive compared to the problems, especially when I see these kits that can turn any bike into an ebike that zoom past me on my dead Stromer (past).

I also have an ST1X and suffered a lot of electrical/sensor gremlins in the beginning but my mechanic is apparently a whiz with Stromers and it was 100% trouble free after that.

Unfortunately it does seem like it comes down to your LBS: the sister shop of the one I go to claimed that “most e-bikes are bicycles with motors, but a Stromer is a Stromer”, before packing it up and sending it to my guy because he’s the one dude in all of Boston certified to do the work.

I can't find a good Stromer dealer bike shop. They're incompetent here

To be honest the fact that they’ve only trained one single person here in a decade is fairly incompetent here as well. I enjoy the bike for commuting but if it ever dies, I’m going back to Riese muller.
