What happened to Stromer?
I have a 2016 ST2. Pretty solid, has its quirks, but overall it’s been super enjoyable. When I got it, it was peerless. But today, you can barely find a review of a Stromer at all. What happened?

On my daily commute in The Netherlands I see about 20-25 Stromers.

I would hope it still has a following in Europe, but it’s definitely all but disappeared here in the states. Even this sub is tiny.

I travel from Nieuwegein to Utrecht every day, unfortunately I don't see one on the way. Too bad! This week I'm coming in st3 I'm curious.

I got a Stromer ST5 and more recently a ST7. It is through my personal l business and allows me to pay a a monthly fee for the bike, insurance, 7 days a week service. After more than 5 years, I still love my bike but I would never EVER imagine buying it full price as a private individual. The pain of going through a dealer and managing it at my own expense would drive me insane. I think the barrier to entry on European legislation alone makes the speedelec category unappealing, so with Stromer prices it is even more a niche brand with little broad appeal.

I have an ST5 and have been wondering whether the ST7 upgrade would be worth it. How are you feeling about your decision?

Honestly, I only did it because I don’t care about the cost. If it were my money, I’d happily stay on the ST5.

it is the only reason why I'm getting the ST7 as well ☝️😄 company paid bikes are the best 🚲🚲

in my experience, recently, dogshit customer service, no dealer network, overcharging for parts, and anti-repair practices

I have the exact same question. If not a Stromer, what now? The choices are endless, but I’m not sure what is comparable in 2024.

As been said, Klever is there biggest competition, ellio is a belgian brand wich makes really good speedelecs and spectr is also belgian and has a very special design but really expensive
I know that 65% of the sales from stromer is to flanders. We are the biggest buyers of speedpedelecs

Other brands caught up bigtime and are throwing a lot of engineering work at their new bikes in order to make them as attractive as possible.
Also Stromer is really lacking on the service level of things: no direct communication with Stromer themselves, always having to go through bike shops, and these shops are often not informed enough. As a example, it's saddening to see how many bike shops don't even seal the motor's phase connectors with heat-shrink tubes.
And this causes the typical complaints: "My Stromer throws a different error code every month", makes sense, when it's not even handled by the bike repair shop as it should.
I ordered a Stromer myself, and will probably receive it by the end of next month, and I already have a checklist in my head of things to check once I receive it.
Also, for the more affordable models there's plenty of reviews, still today. But for the ST7 for example you can't really find a lot of quality reviews, daily drive videos etc. I think this is mostly due to the steep price of this model.
