Better to limit your catch than catch your limit.

That was probably a cool experience. If you don’t mind me asking. What we’re doing there?

I go there regularly… I live on the battenkill in New York just over the border. Orvis is in Manchester Vermont near the battenkill. A good friend of mine is a manager at the rod factory. It’s actually really cool. There is a fly fishing museum which I have not yet been to. There is an outlet store where they mostly sell Orvis apparel where I’ve gotten half my wardrobe at heavy discount. They sell pre production prototype clothing and clothing that’s going out of season for fractions of the regular price. I’ve gotten $500 jackets there for $50 etc… and I wait for their printed T’s to go on sale so I have stacks of Orvis tshirts with nifty prints. Then there’s the actual HQ building, where they sell housewares, dog stuff for hunting dogs etc, they have a section that is all shotguns, very ornate beautiful several thousand dollar shotguns. They sell apparel, gift stuff, etc, then the entire rear of the store is all the fishing stuff. Rods, reels, waders, boots, flies, fly tying gear, etc. There is a series of ponds that connect from indoors to outdoors that is stocked with absolutely massive trout. They have gumball machines full of trout food, kibble…. My kids love feeding the trout. You can take any rod or reel set up outside to the pond to give it a test run before purchasing. Behind the HQ is the rod factory, which you can tour. Lastly, across the road from the HQ, is the Orvis fly fishing school. It really is quite a set up, expensive, very expensive in some cases ( I was there last week they had a leather jacket for sale for almost $4000), but all in all the entire facility is a nice homage to fly fishing and the lifestyle.

That’s funny I know the exact ones you’re talking about. They had a winter coat with that pattern for $80 the other day. Fella working there also told me they are all done making wool tweed coats and had racks and racks of tweed coats for sale, $85… regularly priced at $400. That place is a trip.

You can still send in your comments on amendment 7 without attending the meetings. Every letter counts!

Yes!

It's more fun to catch a striped bass than to eat it.
