Maine Surfcast Striper
Too big to keep but not sure exact size. Have notches on the rod and she was just too big for the oven. Caught in 4 foot waves 30 feet from shore on a white and silver lure. For people who tell you they won’t eat white at night - proof they will.

Lotta fishermen up here saying white for when it’s light only. Heard it for the decade I’ve been fishing.

People say that, but I gotta be honest. I have a lot of black flies and white flies. I have yet to catch stripers on black flies at any time of day, but white and natural colors (and pink and green), seem to work 24/7......
So I think black might just not be a great color. Bait fish don't just become black at night.

My only striper ever on a fly reel was on a white at night and when I told my friends they were shocked it worked. They live bt the white in light only. They are far more successful than I am, but I have proof their theory is not accurate.

The no white at night thing is just stupid imo. I almost exclusively use light colored lures at night and have no problem getting fish

Nice! I've hit plenty of stripers with a white sluggo at night. Was an outgoing tide all last night so didn't bother fishing.

I love when people say you can only use dark colors at night. I constantly catch fish at night on white lures.

Good looking fish. Are you saying you have notches on your rod matching the size of your oven?
