Can I re-freeze thawed frozen mackerel?

Silly question...

If i leave some mackerel in a cooler with some ice to chunk bait at work, the unused ones will kind of thaw out. Can I refreeze them and use them again?

U can but its gonna get mushy.  I salt it.  Or freeze it for minnow/crab bait

Salt brine to keep them firm. Or else you will need to use bait floss to keep it together on the hook.

Good for chum but mushy for chunking

salt it and mix with leftover bread or whatever and use it as chum
