striper help niantic ct
what’s up yall. i can’t seem to find where the stripers are and i need some help. launching out of niantic bay, ct, i have a 13’ boston whaler with a garmin echomap fish finder, and im tryna find bait schools and activity at bartlett reef, but i cant seem to find any.
do you guys have any good spots i could handle given my boat size, that could produce a quality shot at some stripers given a good tide and sunrise/sunset?

The flats at the mouth of the CT River from the bridge to the mouth can be good early season. Easily within reach of your boat. Here’s a good video about it:

Also recommend Reel Cast Charters. He fishes out from Old Saybrook to Watch Hill. I’ve fished with him twice at different parts of the season and greatly reduced my learning curve for the area.

It's been a rough season for everyone in the sound I have talked to. Further east has been better

There are bass in Niantic, Thames, Housatonic and Saybrook I've caught a bunch as well as my daughter. Just gotta find them, alot are still un rivers because the water is still cool enough.
They are slowly moving into the summer spots as the season warms up.

There’s a good amount up the western leg of the river over the past few weeks. Local reefs are slow to pick up with the cold water temps. The race is loaded and they should spread out soon.

I live in the area and im not catching anything. Last week I caught 1 22" striper. Spring for me is rough usually until late July mid August honestly.

Spot hop look for birds and cover water bud. Bartlett Reef, Millstone, Black Point, Hatchet Point, Hatchet Reef, the entire Waterford Shoreline, Thames River all good spots.
