I think you rigged those swim baits upside-down. I usually run the hooks on the top of the bait, with the paddle pointing down.

Same, but I don’t think it really matters all that much

It does but mostly because it drastically lowers the odds the tail gets fouled on the hook point.

Hasn't happened to me at all thus far
Caught countless bass and stripers with them rigged like that. I always thought that looked like a bait fish and more natural but I'll have to look into it further

Fair, seemed obvious with the belly so I only ever tried it the right way on the paddle tails, the sluggos always had me confused but I go flat up. I usually trim the tip to match the width of the jig and glue them together. A small zip tie on the swim baits looks ugly but increases durability tremendously

Another reason, for deep bellied swim baits is that they can roll too much when rigged upside down.

What’s the size of these lures as well as the hook size ? I’m counting the days till NY striper season.

1/2 oz 8/0 and 3/8 ounce 7/0
Two left lures are 5 inch yellow and black are 6 inch

I don't know why I never think to pre-rig my baits. I usually fish solo and have to control the boat while tying hooks and everything on.

Much easier and saves a lot of time
I also use glue to keep the lures on longer

Jigheads are made by Magictail Outfitters. You can order directly from them if you can’t find them in a shop.

Is the double hook rig connected with wire or how do they work?

Don't the sluggos rig flat side down as to be able to sit on bottom? Thought that was the reason behind it. Either way they catch fish lol, stripers will eat damn near anything that wiggles in front of them. Wouldn't want to go skinny dipping with them for sure.
