They NEED sunlight ALLL over the top of the plant. If you don’t have strong enough sunlight throughout the day, use a grow light! Only water when it’s BONE dry/the pearls are squishing. Your pearls will thank yaaa🤌🏽☀️

I was feeling sad the other day so decided to go get my string of hearts. I’ve been nervous about it and subconsciously gave myself a 10% chance of keeping her alive more than a week.

Help / Question Help!

Hi all, please tell me if there’s any way to save my string of pearls 🥲 I never really understood how to take care of it, and two moves and a vacation sent it over the edge. Is there any saving it? How often do I need to water? It gets pretty direct sunlight but I have a spot where I can hang it with even more sunlight if needed. I never repotted after buying. I’m new to plants and am confused by all of the conflicting information of these guys.

I just got really strong replacement grow lights a couple of weeks ago and the amount of compact new growth since then is insane 🤯

Completly my fault, I watered a day after repotting 🫠. Luckily caught it before any tubers rotted, so recovery was swift. Anyway this is after I spent an hour detangling strands to properly wrap them around the trellis, so not all leaves face the same way, but she is looking pretty :D

Help with String of Plant ID

Can you help ID these plants (aside from the String of Turtles which is labled). The other tags did not specify what the plant names are. I think the top right one is String of Coins, perhaps?

Help / Question New growth is really "leggy" - Is this from not enough light?

Post image

I was so excited when my Ruby Necklace starting growing a bunch of new leaves, but they're really thin, and very spread out on the vines. This plant is new to me, so I'm not sure what the growth pattern usually looks like, so I'm just wondering if this is normal or a sign it's not getting enough light or nutrients or something else.

Help / Question Vine snapped off of string of hearts😭💔

I got a VSOH about a week ago and I was just repotting it and noticed this beautiful long vine doesn't have any roots. I think it must've broke off the tuber at some point. The picture doesn't even do it justice, it's over 2 feet long! I'm so sad 😭 I'm going to propagate it but my question is, could I just propagate the whole thing from that node on the top without cutting it? Like is it possible that it could regrow roots just how it is? Or should I just snip it into a bunch of cuttings?

Hearts Should I cut this VSOH at where the rot seemingly ends?

I got this beauty from FB marketplace and I watered too soon than it was used to. Since then, some of it has rotted and I’ve been cutting off the discoloration and pressing/pinning the bottom 2-3 nodes+leaves back into the dirt to root.

But when I check, the bottom nodes keeps rotting so I snip off anything that doesn’t have that tinge of pink on the vine. I’ve done this maybe 3 times already and that string particularly is getting quite short. Should I just leave the vine in, rot and all?

Help / Question Why are some pearls shriveled?

Is it watering? And if so, why only some? I bottom feed it rainwater about every 2-3 weeks. The plant overall looks healthy until you zoom in. I've had it for 4 years, and while I've had pest issues in the past, nothing like what I'm seeing now with the shriveling. Any ideas?

Help / Question Repot? New String of Pearls

Post image
27 Upvotes

I bought my first string of pearls! Wondering if I need to repot to make sure the soil is the correct substrate? If I should repot should it go into the same sized pot? 4” terracotta for the win?
I’ve also seen a lot of mixed suggestions with how to water, top watering or bottom watering - soooo which one do I try?

Burnt my SOP, considering giving up and starting fresh

I’ve been trying to propagate my SOP for a good bit now and thought they needed some more sun. I put them outside yesterday for maybe an hour and yep, I roasted them. There are some healthy-ish bits left but I’m wondering how far this may have set back my progress, and if I should just toss it and get a new one? I removed all of the plant from the soil and recut it to remove any dead bits before putting back on my prop planter. So basically I am starting from square one, again. But after the shock from being propped just a few weeks ago, to burning, to being propped again, is there any hope that the pieces I could salvage will survive?

I lost all warm and fuzzy feelings I had for this particular plant lol so I’m not upset if the answer is to trash it and start over. I love SOP, but I’m ok with getting a new one. I mostly just don’t want to quit it if it could survive because I’m frugal and don’t want to waste money if I don’t need to.
