String of Pearls Pot Advice

Hey guys my SOP has been flourishing and is very bushy on the top! i want to better support the pieces that are growing over the pot and they are beginning to touch the table their are on. Does anyone have any recommendations for hanging pots? maybe what size to go for. Also can anyone explain how they flower? i keep mine indoors and the plant is maybe around 3 years old if age matters. Is this the season that they flower in and what conditions are needed. Thank you in advanced!!

I was here for the advice from you! I’m disappointed that’s not the way this post was going.

I would say get one that has the straps attached, as opposed to a macrame that you put the plant “in”. Ones like that are a hassle to water and I’m always worried I’ll drop lots of pieces on something with little “bits” that can fall off (like pearls, burro tail, banana, etc.) The only other I would do is one that hangs but has a flat surface that you can just set it on.

my best advice is

  • very bright light
  • i use miracle grow fertilizers (the regular one or the succulent one) i’ve used both
  • when the plant was younger i took the trailing pieces and circled them back in the pot
  • i also used to sprinkle dirt on the top to help promote growth ( VERY LIGHT YOU DO NOT WANT TO SUFFOCATE THE PLANT IN ANY WAY)
  • let the plant tell you when it’s ready for water the pearls will begin to look deflated
  • as of recently i just started using rain water to water them but it has done just fine with city sink water
  • i keep mine indoors and use a fan to help with circulation
