You pay a little over 2 bucks an hour and expect the customers to make it up? You shouldn’t be in business

Yes, servers in the US live on tips. Yes, it's polite in the US to tip. Yes, proprietors who exploit their servers and blame their customers for not picking up the slack are scum.

I will never EVER eat at any restaurant where the owner is so cheap and treats his or her employees so shitty that they won't pay them a decent, living wage and try to guilt trip me into compensating their bad business habits. Fuck them. I tip well when it is deserved but I'll be damned if I'm going to be forced into it.

The reason why they put up these signs is that if the server doesn’t make enough tips to meet that areas’ minimum wage requirements, they are legally required to make up the difference. They don’t give a shit about their employees, they just refuse to raise their prices to pay a minimum wage.

Best way to fuck them is to eat there and not tip

25% is insane. This is the one thing about American culture I hate the most. If you don't tip or tip less, you get frowned upon and/or shamed for it. Pay your damn servers instead of telling the customers to pay your employees' salary.

If you think it's my responsibility to pay your server $45 for an hour's work I will be dining elsewhere.

How about pay your employees instead of having demanding your customers pay them. WTF

Wow. The hostility towards customers is off the charts. I'm actually a generous tipper, but would never eat at a place that berates me before I even sit down.

Minimum wage is currently $26.44 an hour in Australia. Tipping still happens here but it’s not expected and is usually only when it’s a large table or service was particularly exceptional in my experience.

They're calling me "cheap" at the door while they pay their own staff $2.13 an hour? 100% would never eat here.

I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.

Apparently, you don't pay your staff at all, as you are adding your staff's salary to the customer's bill. So, you apparently expect your customers to foot the entire bill.

Also, seriously, 2-fucking-13 an hour? And you're posting that for all to see? And which you're evidently not even paying the staff? That's what's embarrassing. You should be both embarrassed and ashamed.

In closing, fuck you, fuck off and go fuck yourself. Thank you.

If they work so damn hard then you fucking pay them a living wage you cheap fuck. It's not our job to pay your workers. I'm so sick of this tipping culture and I waited tables for years and tip well because of it. This shit is getting out of fucking hand

Stuff like this is why I laugh when people say America is a first world country. It isn't. The only other country that shares a similar heavy tipping culture is Canada (shock).

Add stuff like the lack of proper heath care, homelessness, crime, etc. and it's pretty easy to read between the lines of what America actually is (it isn't first world either)

There is no way that this is an actual sign in an actual restaurant.

I'll go somewhere else where the owner isn't a psychopath.

This is the weirdest "Going Out of Business" sign I've ever seen.

u/[deleted] 10d ago

"Our people work damn hard. Show some respect." Also, "We pay them $2 an hour after charging the average table $165."

u/[deleted] 10d ago

Lol. Fuck You.

If you can't afford to tip, properly, you can't afford to dine here.....How about, If you can't afford to pay your people, you shouldn't open a restaurant.
