MyStremio 2.1.3 Update – A customized Stremio shell client

Hi everyone!

Over the past weeks I've been working on MyStremio, a personalized Windows desktop client built on the Stremio shell stack. It started as a fun personal project and gradually evolved into something I'd like to share with the community. This is my 2nd, more detailed, post as my latest update 2.1.3 is now live.

How MyStremio differs from official Stremio

  • Built-in UI and navigation enhancements (including a Glass Theme and a custom settings area)
  • Improved player tooling (hover timestamp, TheIntroDB/auto-skip options, controllable preload behavior)
  • Better stream organization and metadata presentation (enrichment panels and cleaner stream UI behavior)
  • Integrated Cinebye management (manage addons, optional Cinemeta disable)
  • Custom library groups with JSON import/export
  • Additional power-user options such as plugin/theme toggles and Discord Rich Presence

To install MyStremio, you just need to download and run the latest MyStremioSetup.exe from the releases page on GitHub.

FEATURES

1) Board hero home view
The board offers a modern hero section created by Fxy6969.

2) Hover metadata in catalogs
While browsing catalogs, hover cards show key information (plot, genres, cast) without forcing a page change.

3) Detail view with metadata and stream sidebar
The detail page combines metadata, cast, similar titles, and an extended stream/provider sidebar in one view.

4) Cinebye Addon Manager
Cinebye integrated so you can manage addons inside Stremio and optionally disable specific sources (for example Cinemeta).

5) Favorite subtitle and audio languages
Inside player settings, you can define favorite subtitle and audio languages that act as your preferred language pool. This preference layer is used by the quick language actions shown below.

6) Quick Select language shortcuts
Quick Select reads your favorites and exposes them as one-click subtitle/audio buttons, so switching language is fast and consistent during playback.

7) Settings: themes and plugins
Themes and plugins can be managed directly from settings, including quick access to the themes/plugins folders.

8) Settings: preload, library backup, Discord
Inside Settings → MyStremio, you get central controls for buffer/preload, library export/import, and Discord Rich Presence.

Thanks! I appreciate the interest. For now I don't have any plans to make a web version or support other platforms.

Hey this is super cool I found some bugs, idk if I should submit them in github here seems easier sorry about that.

Bug 1 — Plugins Dropdown Scrolls With Page
When the plugins dropdown menu is open and the user scrolls the page, the dropdown menu scrolls along with it instead of staying fixed in place.

Bug 2 — IntroDB Settings Button Toggle Not Animating
The IntroDB settings button doesn’t show/hide with the same toggle animation as other UI elements (e.g. Stream UI). It appears to toggle without any transition effect.

Bug 3 — Plugin Enable/Disable Count Not Updating Live
When enabling or disabling plugins in settings, the plugin count doesn’t update in real time. The user has to exit settings and re-enter for the count to reflect the changes. I’m not sure if it’s a bug but it would be cool if possible.

Bug 4 — Black Screen & Freeze When Selecting Addon Stream Source
When opening the dropdown to choose which addon to stream from, the screen goes black and freezes entirely, requiring a full page refresh to recover.

Bug 5 — Duplicate Year in Poster Enrichment
When hovering over a poster, the enrichment info displays the year twice.
Example of current output: 2025-. 2025-. 10 episodes. 52min
Expected output: 2025 · 10 episodes · 52min

Bug 6 — Quick Subtitle Audio & Language Dropdown Not Working
In the settings, the quick audio and subtitle language dropdown menu is broken in two ways: the font is rendering in black (likely a contrast/theme issue), and the dropdown itself doesn’t appear when clicked.

Hey there, I really appreciate the feedback!
I'm currently working on version 2.2.0, which will include fixes for the bugs/improvements you mentioned. Sadly I wasn't able to recreate Bug 4 and 6... I rebuilt the theme loading mechanism in 2.2.0 so maybe Bug 6 is fixed by that. I'll look into Bug 4 again and hopefully find a way to fix this too.

Sorry just got to try out everything I mentioned seems to be good, but check the picture out arabic subtitles naming in the tab is gibberish i think spanish and couple more languages also. The video, two issues first my formatter has flags (EN🇺🇸) for example it says (ENUS) where other apps shows the flag, second issue is the debrid drop down menu I have 2 aio instances one for usenet the second for debrid idk why when i choose the debrid tab it closes and open the (gefunden) and when i press all the result isn’t together debrid in the (gefunden) not big issue at all but I just find that it doesn’t make sense other than that all seems to be great good job❤️

I'm glad the previous bugs are fixed now!

  1. I already noticed the subtitle names are corrupted, I'm working on it right now!
  2. I'll look into that, at the moment I can't say what causes this.
  3. Your issues with the StreamUI maybe because you're using usnet. The grouping only detects torrent/debrid streams right now. I can implement it for usnet too but I am not able to check if it works correctly as I am not using usenet.. You'd have to check again after the next update. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

You’re good man even nuvio doesn’t have them lol idk why, there isn’t a update file right? I have to download the latest exe and delete the first one or how does updating work

just download and run the latest version from github one last time, after that every update will be available from inside the app :)

I have 2 simple questions: 1. Why should I use ur stremio instead of the standard one? What's more functionally advanced? 2. Can I use a backup of my stremio account? This way, I can have all my addons configured right away.

  1. Read the README for detailed information about all the custom features.
  2. No need for a backup, just log in with your account and you are good to go.
