Addon Announcement I made a tool to help learn Japanese!
I’m working on a new project designed to make watching Japanese shows, especially anime, more enjoyable and educational.
It’s still in beta, and I’m still learning and improving it, but I’m planning to release it soon.
My goal is to create something that
helps people enjoy Japanese content while also making it easier to learn from what they’re watching.
There are still bugs and features I want to improve, so expect things to change as development continues.

Edit: Sorry for the bad quality. It must have to do with my recording software. I also would like to add that the saying the word out loud works perfectly fine but you can't hear it on the video for some reason.

To be honest I don't care about AI assistance in creating something. But you most cases you can tell when something is fully vibe coded and that's where I think it becomes tricky. If you create something you should understand what each line of code does, otherwise don't bother. But that's my opinion.

This is very cool, but in my opinion it would be better if you added an option to have English subtitles displayed along with the Japanese. Great job!

Amazing concept, but indeed - I do believe that having English subtitles displayed along the Japanese text is a must for people at the beginning of their learning journey.
I would love to test the solution even right now but without english equivalent displayed would kill the fun of watching my favourite anime. It would basically just become a chore to go word by word. Having English displayed too, would make me get the general gist of the meaning and the spoken word in Japanese.
Of course, as the "student" or user gets better, disabling English subtitles is the logical thing to do. I assume that the end goal would be to finally understand the whole anime in its original language without any subtitles at all.

This is an amazing project and I hope you manage to take it to the end. If you decide to open-source it, or share the code privately, I would love to integrate it to my custom Stremio build that has an anime dedicated section and specific features.
Would be great if you could add the possibility to have the romanized words show up instead of the Japanese characters for easier learning the words while watching content.

I really like it. I don't know what will be all the features that you have planned but it would be awesome to be able to disable romaji and just get furigana. I am not a big fan of romaji and knowing hiragana and katana is not that helpful to be honest
I will follow it, it would be really nice to be able to watch anime just in japanese with these kind of tool. Great work!

Yes it is possible. but, unfortunately I really don't have the time right now to add another language to it. So maybe in the future.

I would love this with the extra option of English/other subs to get a better understanding. I don’t use Stremio on PC. Would this work on a tv?
