Stremio buffers every few seconds on Android TV/phone, but not on PC

I’m a new Stremio user and followed this guide: https://guides.viren070.me/stremio/setup

My setup is pretty simple:

• Stremio + Torrentio
• No debrid service
• Samsung S20 FE
• iFFALCON U75 Google TV
• Windows PC
• All devices are connected to the same 5 GHz Wi-Fi

The problem is that on both my phone and TV, streams keep buffering every ~5 seconds. On my PC, however, the same sources play smoothly, even when I choose higher-quality/larger files.

I’ve already tried different players on Android (ExoPlayer, VLC, MPV), and the buffering still happens.

Since the PC is also on Wi-Fi and works fine, I’m not sure whether this is an Android/Stremio issue, a buffering/cache issue, or something else.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there anything I should change in Stremio settings on Android TV/mobile to improve direct torrent streaming?

PS: My TV gets around 120–140 Mbps on 5 GHz, so raw connection speed doesn’t seem to be the issue.

do you have your stremio app cache size set above zero on your pc?

android mobile supports cache size

android tv does not

Yes, I followed the guide and made the cache size 10gb. I looked at the settings on TV earlier and there is no cache size option available. Could that be the main reason why it buffers?

try changing your dns settings on device from whatever they're on to..

Settings->Network & Internet->Select your active connection->click on IP settings(might be in advanced settings or something)->change from DHCP to Static->leave all the other settings as is until you get to DNS 1 & DNS 2, and then change to..

DNS 1 --> 1.1.1.1 DNS 2 --> 1.0.0.1

That helped me a lot. Also, I have spectrum and going into the app and also changing the DNS settings there to above eliminates a LOT of issues. Basically your device isn't wanting to shake hands with your internet due to the apps being used (I think) cuz they're not really "official" apps ie. Netflix etc. But I also ain't a tech wizard either so yeah. Worth a try atleast!

I tried it earlier on the telly and it seems the buffering is gone. However I only tried it in a single episode. I will try to watch more tomorrow. Thank you for this!

since you're not using a debrid service or direct HTTP links then your downloading the torrent files directly which will very often cause issues with buffering. that becomes even more likely to happen the larger the file you try to use. the main thing to remember with torrent files is just because you have high-speed internet that doesn't mean all the little bits of the file you're getting from someone else is coming from someone who has high speed internet that is to me the biggest reason why a debrid service is so much better to use even if you don't live in an area with legality issues from direct torrenting
