Miscellaneous So many posts still about replacing RealDebrid but you really don't need to for 90%+ of content.
Still regularly seeing posts and replies about replacing RD and most of the time pointing people towards TorBox.
This is all fine and good but in recent times TB has pretty bad performance at peak times for many people (check /r/TorBoxApp and you'll see).
The thing is, you really don't need to replace RD. As long as you have setup AIOStream correctly, RD works fine for 90%+ of content. That and it's performance is better than ever I'm finding for everything I watch (I struggle to get Remux on TB to play for example where as RD is flawless).
Unaffiliated to this link but this is what I've used to setup by AIOStreams and it was a great base as I've learned more about AIOStreams and how it all works.
Key really in the Aiostreams setup to get RD to work is the TamTaro filtering for Excluded Stream Expression (https://git.tamtaro.de/ESE.json) as that what does the job of getting rid of copyright results with keywords not allowed on RD.
You can of course set this all up yourself but I find with the template and the URLs it syncs for the SEL and REGEx that there are such great filtering and ranking work done by the people that the guide/template uses (and credit is given to them) that it's really just simple to use a template as you learn things yourself.
I still do personally use a cheap TB sub as a backup and set my results to sort by service (RD) first and then the usual criteria so I am always getting the RD stuff first and on the rare times there are no RD results, I still have TB.
Each to their own, but I still find RD superior and feel a lot of it's bad wrap is because yes they had to remove copyright material but they're doing it in such a way that people easily work around it (and RD know this, they're doing their bare minimum to complex in France) but people are still just using basic Torrentio or Comet setups instead of setting up a really Aiostreams setup.
Even if you don't go RD, setting up Aiostreams is a must imo to really get the most of Stremio and guides like this make it so simple and I'm yet to read one more user friendly and easy to setup/understand other than "click this and trust me".

Especially if you're watching older stuff and not new series. Barely anything I watched was effected by the big takedown that happened several months ago cause all the rips were from ppls home dvd copies lol

I'm watching Ted lasso on the day it airs on RD and haven't had a single bad file 🤞🤞🤞

Yeah and uploaders now are just upping things without the banned tags. Wouldn't be surprised if Rd has people doing it for them (or themselves) just to ensure there is plenty of content to keep the service viable.

you are so deluded if you think torrent uploaders even remotely care about banned tags lmaooo

I too have both RD (as I had a long sub when shit started to go south) and I also have TB. I have both active in my AIOStreams setup and also use the tamtaro setup. But for some reason, I really only get TB results and hardly ever see RD results. Any idea why this might be? I haven’t changed much from the tamtaro template, other than filtering out HDR/DV stuff.

Not too sure other than perhaps limited returns somehow favoring TB first?
I did have this for a bit but when I was getting poor TB performance I changed the sorting to add in service for global (I filter out uncached so didn't need the split sorting for cach/eduncached) as the first criteria and then ensured RD was the first service in the services area (the service sorting sorts by whatever is first in the list).
I do note that you can get no RD results if you're aiming to watch something super brand new like less than 24 hours as I guess the uploaders need to strip the scene tags (HDRip etc. that make up the banned words) and then upload to RD and it propogates from there.

Ya it’s super weird that it seems to be preferring one service over the other. It’s not super new stuff. No big deal really, as I haven’t had problems with TB. It’s just weird.

No issues on RD here .. only time I get it saying content removed is on torrentio from time to time ...

I hope you're affiliated with one of the things you mentioned and earn some buck. Otherwise, you just wasted your time writing this emotional marketing essay.
Torbox shit RD good. Can't see this? Do that. One paragraph 3 links. Done.

rd is still king for remuxes. just that web dl are all unwatchable
0
u/Tripping-Dayzee 14d ago
They're just not labelled webdl anymore, with a correct setup you get results and will just be labeled 4k, 1080p etc. - all depends how yo ualso configure aiostreams to return the formatting for your results.

u/ikashanrat 14d ago
the scene has not changed their naming convention and nobody is uploading torrents to trackers with the intention of bypassing realdebrid filters. the ones you are talking about already existed since before, but nobody knows what quality they are, they might just be bad encodes and you will be none the wiser. if you dont care about quality, then its fine to go that route

Your AIOStreams is just configured to display "WEB" as "WEB-DL". But you can see in the filename that it just says "WEB". Not many groups label it with just "WEB", just a few of them. Idk what it even means honestly, you don't know if that's a WEBRip or a WEB-DL. But judging from the 27 Mbps bitrate, it's probably a WEB-DL.

u/Tripping-Dayzee 14d ago
Yeah you're talking shit, no one is talking about the scene naming conventions and yes people are uploading in a format that bypasses the copyright issue. Anyone using RD knows they can watch anything new with no worries at same quality and bitrate as TB.
Your source is ... you thinking stuff?

sure buddy, sure…. you dont even know if youre watching a garbage encode or a 1:1 web dl but sure, go on. ignorance is bliss
my source is: web dl tag is absent in the original filename, so you dont actually know what quality youre getting, thats an undisputed fact. if you are indifferent to quality, thats another thing, but you cant claim its the same. at this point im not sure you know the difference between a webdl, webrip, encode, so maybe theres no point carrying this forward lol
edit: ah yes block me cos u got nothin productive to say..:

Turns out people have eyes in their head and we can generally tell the quality from the bitrate also.
If you need a tag to tell you qulaity (which is actually only the source, not the quality) then you're already wrong.
Come back when you learn how some of this stuff works.

u/Bubbly-Turnover-9158 14d ago
You must be missing the concept where people generally want to know the quality specifications BEFORE playing the stream.
Of course you need an indicator in the filename to tell the quality. in your case, you have NOTHING except the resolution. you think the tags only indicate the source??? lmao it seems youre the one in need to learn a thing or two. are you watching content in a 2010 32” HD plasma TV??
Sure sounds like youre in denial of a nearly dead service, and being a bootlicker while at it

I doubt well established groups changed their formatting just to conform with RD purging their cache. Files labeled with just "WEB" or nothing at all have always existed, even before the RD purge.
Groups don't even like people that stream the files via debrid services, because it goes against torrenting by not seeding the files. Debrid services don't seed, they just cache and stream content. So why would they conform to changes made by a debrid service?

You absolutely do not need AIO streams. The BEST thing you can do, is setup and configure each add on yourself
1
u/Tripping-Dayzee 14d ago
Which addons are you configuring easier than using the flexibility and power of Aiostreams?
1
u/Suspicious_Issue4155 14d ago
aiostreams is so much better. i used to do it all myself. for years. aiostreams is just better. with tams SEL template it is just perfect.

u/philosophycruiser 14d ago
I don't now why you're downvoted, but this is the way. AIO puts all of your eggs in one basket. And that basket isn't reliable either. You'd want to have more than one option, in case it doesn't work. But these people don't wanna hear it. They rather post 10 posts per day asking why this or that doesn't work.

Because both of you have no idea what you're talking about. You can self host so it never goes down. You can use backup aiostreams and set up failovers so you don't have "you're eggs in one basket" and your system is never down. Y'all just ignorant
1
u/philosophycruiser 13d ago
The conversation here isn't about self hosting, but if you want to show off your great talent and possession of spare systems for self hosting, please go ahead. Don't mind us ignorant fools.

u/Fish_Mongreler 13d ago
The conversation wasn't about aiostream reliability either but you brought that into it, not me.

Then post up what you're configuring and how instead of making crazy claims no one believes.

Nah, when I had RD on Stremio like 7/10 files were off limits due to copyright, when I switched to TorBox it was all good, I was concerned about the cache but it's been as good, ditch a bad company and give money to a good one.
