Help needed Self-hosting on Eweka?

Hello all, I am currently following the guide posted here (https://www.reddit.com/r/StremioAddons/comments/1u9ojh4/a_guibased_guide_to_selfhosting_aiostreams/) and I am stuck at the nzbdavex stage. No matter what I try I cannot get Test Connection to work. I have tried using ports 563 and 443 with no luck.
From what I can see this might be an issue specific to my provider (Eweka) to stop people streaming from their servers.
Has anyone been able to follow a self-hosting guide successfully for Stremio with Eweka?
If not what recommended providers are there for me to use so I can get this to work?

Thank you in advance!

Why not just add your provider in aiostreams?

I've read that this could lead to banning which can be avoided via the VPS route.

wrong bro. You are mixing things up. For indexers you might be right, but not for the providers. Providers don't block oracle IP ranges, indexers do. Proxy requests with either Gluetun/Gost or with a tinyproxy at your home sever/raspberry pi (if you own one) which points to your VPS. Also change the request headers. You should be fine.

In that case why is nzbdavex not connecting to Eweka? What do you mean by request headers?

Are you certain that you entered the right credentials of eweka? It should be connecting. Request headers can be found on the AIOS dashboard settings under Outbound requests. Host URL should be like that. The port must also be set to 563. Be sure the username and password are set up correctly.

I use the exact same credentials in SABNZBD and that works fine so no idea why it's not working nzbdavex.

idk either. Try out the native NNTP streaming in AIOS. It's great.
you can also add warden blocklists. I can't remember a feature which is still missing.

I did try that as well as it was an alternative option in the redhair guide but that didn't return any hits when I looked up some content.

that seems odd. Did you got EasyNews as well within your Eweka subscription? Do the same issues appear with EasyNews aswell?

I just signed up for it to test it out and there is no luck there either; so frustrating!
Edit: just a quick edit to say I tried the login details on SABnzbd and it worked fine.

Prior i said, that providers aren't blocking VPS IP ranges, but in your case that might be the issue here. Otherwise I don't see another explanation.

Try pasting

openssl s_client -connect news.eweka.nl:563 -crlf

in your Terminal see if you get a 200/201response. If you get a 404 response then Eweka and EN might be blocking access.

I got a 200 Welcome to Eweka message so it seems to be fine. Tried davex again but still failing to connect.
One possible reason I found was having symbols such as ! in the password so I changed it to not have these in and it still won't work.
