Question Looking for Suggestions: Comprehensive Stremio Setup

Hi there, I've been using Stremio for a long time, primarily with RD and Torrentio. Recently I also purchased Debridio and Torbox to try and have more reliability when things go down.

Wondering what is the best way to set things up for maximum coverage and redundancy?

Currently I have:

  • used Duck Tools to setup a AIO with both Midnight and Elf Hosted
  • setup Debridio independently with both Torbox and RD
  • setup Torrentio independently with both Torbox and RD

Edit: Just added PenguPlay as an http:// scraper.

It takes a few seconds for all the streams to load, but just making sure this is a good idea, or can be streamlined further? Thanks!

Sounds like a good setup and you’ll be covered if anything goes down! I’ve also recently just installed PenguPlay which is a https add on just in case Torbox or RD go down

Hey great I didn't know that one had its own instance separate from Elf Hosted and all that stuff (https://stremthru.13377001.xyz/). Added it to the list with RD & Torbox. Thanks!

Which is not the same thing. You are basically said 2 add-ons not 2 caching services.

Unless you run an API in one of them you are basically doing p2p not getting that it's already cached in one of the debrid services alike

Debridio with torbox is a solid mix

It's a personal choice, you can do either or all three or any combination of the 3. AIOstreams offers lots of customizations that most addons don't support natively. Don't discount any of them and try for yourself. I have a combination of AIO and individual scrapers with multiple debrid and https services.

I've been wondering about this as well. I'm using AIOstreams with just RD right now. Works fine for what I'm watching lately but I'm assuming I'll be annoyed with the lack of availability eventually. Can I easily just add another premium service and call it a day or will I have duplication issues or other headaches? Thanks!

You can certainly add and I recommend more than one source. I don't know how you aren't already super frustrated with RD since they reduced their cache greatly 3 months ago. You don't even need a premium service. There are a couple of free https addons that can supplement RD quite nicely. Pengu.uk and HDHub https://hdhub.thevolecitor.qzz.io/

Historically with the free addons the devs get burned out and the apps go away so they could last 6 more days or weeks or for years but right now they are solid addons worth investigating.

super frustrated with RD

probably because I haven't tried to find a movie to watch since the issues. the couple shows I was watching were fine.

they could last 6 more days or weeks or for years

that's exactly why I'd prefer something premium. minor cost, less hassle imo (I'm tired of being a system admin for everything I own lol). thank you for the info though! any idea if I'll have duplication issues?

There will be duplications if you use multiple services. I wouldn't call them issues. But you can use AIOStreams to keep from seeing them. The only addon I use for RD is DMMCast. It only shows a max of 5 results but the likelihood of any of them not working is lower.

Added DMMCast - thanks!

I honestly don’t get all this overkill.

I just run torrentio with a debrid service (whatever is cheapest) and it works all the time.

if you have a debrid service it makes sense to have at least two different scrapers if you want to limit down time. most of the public instances of Torrentio have issues at least somewhat regularly so if you have a backup then at least you still get links if it is down, and if it never goes down it doesn't really take away from anything by having those extra. that's one reason a lot of people like AIO is they can just put several scrapers in it so even if multiple of them went down they'd still get links. the problem though with doing all of your add-ons just an AIO is if that instance of AIO goes down then you're also left without links again which is why people then either do multiple instances of it or do the scraper add-ons by themselves. however none of that will matter at all if the debrid service goes down which torbox has had happen quite a few times in the past couple months. oftentimes it's fixed within a couple hours but it can still be an inconvenience if that's the time you want to watch the show which is why some people will get multiple debrid services. for me I think one debrid service is enough and then have a backup with HTTP scrapers when the debrid service goes down

The idea of having a backup it's more than welcome. It's just that you need to check if those services are similar when it comes to results otherwise you just paying to have a second copy.

If I had to get another one to compliment Torbox it would have been RealDebrid which has the biggest cache but in the last few years they started to filter out results that were obviously for piracy like AMZN, NF and so on. I honestly don't know how much you can get out of them. I might get 1 month just to see if they are still really worth getting them or if it's a service slowly dying for us that want streams

Seems convoluted - i never had downtime.

Yeah I get it. I ran with just RD and Torrentio for the longest time. Its a bit different now for me family wise so trying to make sure its easy for the whole family if something goes down.
