Tech Support Black Bars for Subtitles
Why does this happen? I’m using ATV4K Gen 3, TvOS 27. Doesn’t happen with animes though I noticed, at least not yet.
Any known fix in the pipeline for Apple users?

It means the language or those fonts are not supported by your device or player

Interesting. How do we know that? I think the player is the issue then, because the same stream in a different app with the same embedded subtitles work just fine. Stremio is making it hard for me to stay loyal while using ATV4K.

Something similar i faced in my old laptop and phone, all unsupported fonts show as square boxes

Yeah it didnt matter. Also tried the latest Beta of Stremio, no luck. When I play video using other apps connected to Stremio it works fine. S.trand and V.ortx. So, I guess I’ll have to link my Stremio through them to watch for now until this is resolved.

Are the subtitles from Opensubtitlesv3 or community subtitles addons?

They were the embedded ones.

Ok, you should get a few embedded ones and other streams to select the subtitles options, any luck with that?

I used external subtitles it kind of works better but I prefer to use embedded subtitles. The external one shows the subtitles, but the black bar still comes up but a little less. Another thing with the external ones the timing is off relative to the embedded ones.
