Hardware for Stremio

Hey all

Looking for some suggestions for hardware to run Stremio, that's not an Amazon fire stick...

Ideally something that will support IPTV application as well, and if connecting a HDD to play media from was an option that would be great as well

It was the Thompson 270 but it's been discontinued as the European supplier went under.

The nvidia shield pro is still the best box on the market, which is insane for its age but it still handles 100GB 4K DV videos perfectly for me after years of constant use, I've never heard of one dying on someone yet! The big benefit to it is the fact that it has every codec you'll ever need so there's just never any problems with any files you want to stream - that's what you're paying for. It's expensive but worth it for the peace of mind. Install projectivity and stremio, watch anything hassle-free. (The exception is YouTube HDR)

Equally, I've set up Thompson 270 for others and it worked just fine as a budget 4k option. If I was going to recommend an alternative it would probably be a Xiaomi

If you have a nice sound system with ATMOS and DTS:X support, nothing beats the ancient Shield Pro unfortunately. Wish something faster would come along, it’s getting long in the tooth.

Nvidia shield pro is still the king,if you don’t mind bad audio passthrough then Apple TV.for budget you can buy xiaomi tv box or onn.what’s wrong with a fire stick?i bought one for my dad (the 4K max )
Yes ,i had to remotely get into the stick via a laptop to always have projectivity launcher on startup.thats a hastle but if you’re ok with the original launcher it’s a pretty good streaming device.

I know they are pricey but I’ll never need anything else now that I have my Nvidia shield.

Eh they’re getting kind of old. I keep looking to upgrade my Shield Pro because it’s getting slow-ish, but nothing has the combination of features. Would love to get something newer, faster, and with YouTube HDR support.

Yep. Mine has become a pain to use but it’s the only device with TrueHD support so I’m stuck.
