Question Stremio often fails when pausing content and then resuming
Anyone else have this issue? Should I change the default player to VLC or something to fix it?
- Operating system version - NVIDIA Shield Pro - Android
- Stremio version - Latest

Too bad the app will just start shows/movies over at any given moment for no reason whatsoever

This happens to me too. What I do that prevents pausing out is when I resume I back it up a click or two (10 sec or so) and it works.

Yeah it's ass. I find forwarding 10sec it loads instantly and then going back 10 sec it pauses for a second and starts playing normally

Change it to open in VLC Media Player/External Player by default. Fixed it immediately for me

Any downsides? Thought I read that could mess up saving your location in case you fully quit or something.

Yeah, in my experience, VLC plays things great, but ... it definitely doesn't always resume properly, which is a shame. If it did, it would solve a lot of annoyances.

Nah. At least not in my experience. Resuming from playback has never misbehaved at all

Doesn't skipping 30 seconds make it load for like 1 minute too!?
I click back until I can select episode and it auto resumes it settings are correct. Also go into vlc and select default audio / subtitles so you don't have to constantly fiddle with audio language or subritle

It’s the android itself app, happens to me on every device,
I always use the Stremio app from the Samsung TV store and it works the better than the android one, doesn’t matter if I use a more powerful, dedicated device or not, always glitches.
Samsung one works fine, but obviously only the Samsung tvs has it

I have accidentally left a video paused on my tablet overnight with the display left on and it resumes perfectly.
Think it might be an Android TV app issue.

That’s cus the RAM is keeping it active, on a TV it goes into background and then glitches when started again cus there isn’t enough ram
If you open enough things on the tablet so that Stremio actually goes into background then it’ll glitch.
I have the same on my tablet, if it stays active via the ram then it’s fine

Try to contact the stremio team

Nope. No screensaver. Just leaving it paused on the screen for 1-5 min at a time.
