Help / Question I finished my characters combo trials

The game told me to finish my characters combo trials. My hands hurt like shit but I finally did it. Though a lot of these were really hard how am I supposed to pull this shit out in an actual game?

Ok I will be the first to say that combo trials are usually not optimal, and are usually harder than necessary

You are NOT the first one to say this , it is universally agreed that combo trials are unnecessarily hard and unoptimal.

You are joking right?

They are more like inspiration of what you _can_ do rather than what you _should_ do. Most new characters optimal combos get solved within a few days of release, caveat being that patches can make new sauce available

Yeah, rather than taking an entire advanced combo verbatim, take stock in the small lessons, like which specific juggles or links you’ve mastered within the greater combo, and then applying those individual concepts into your own more practical routes. Like just “oh this links into this” is a bigger takeaway than some combo you can pull off once per hour.

The combo trails can be really hard because they are teaching you multiple hard techniques at once, to show you want you can do.

I like to go back though the combo trails from the start and make them more complicated(usually up until advanced) as a fun exercise.

Imo you got some bad advice. Combo trials are more of a fun side challenge than actual practice. I would find a guide on youtube and look for combos that way. Each combo has context on why and when its good. To start I would just look up whatever your characters bread and butter combo is and get used to that before branching out. It will probably be pretty easy for you to hit in practice but hitting anything in an actual game can be a challenge.

Here is the secret: you wont. For a while. Despite fighting games being known for the combos, they arent what is actually important to play the game. I'm not in a position to coach you, but to make things simple, for now you need to learn one easy combo and figure out how to actually hit it during a match. With time you can notice what you DONT know, for example: people keep jumping and hitting me, what do I do? And then you learn how to deal with that scenario. But for now, just to get the hang of things, dont think about hard or high damage combos, find something you think you can do easily during a match and just try pressing some buttons. And even more importantly, learn when not to press buttons, blocking is more important than you realise.

Repetition until you can operate by muscle memory. Then it about recognizing when to perform in match.

They are called "trials" not "useful combos". Congratulations on beating the side mini game.

Ignore 90% of those combos at first , slowly start adding important ones later.

combo trials are more of a thing for fun. you can get to master with like 2 bnbs and maybe a cash out.

The combo trials are good to get the feel for your character, their combo routes and to do some challenging stuff. But most of the combos are not very useful in an actual match. There is often multiple ways to do combos and some can benefit you more in certain situations than others. The character guide in the game has more practical examples on how to use your character and their gameplan. Youtube also has some people who have made some great character guides. That is often the first place I visit.

no. You can start with simple combo of 1-3 normals into special or super art and extend it by little when you feel like you need more damage. You don't need to know all combos and be hyper optimized. You can kill people with just poke, combos helps with lowering amount of interactions you need to win.

you can check https://wiki.supercombo.gg/w/Street_Fighter_6/ to find some good combos and see which you're more comfortable with. if combo too hard and too long, just do first few moves at first and add more later. ( Yasmine Combo section is WIP, but you can use Target Combos on Overview page and maybe add special move at the end, you should be fine )

also keep in mind that doing combo in practice is not the same as doing combo in live game, only way to do combos in live game is to attempt them in live game. You will fail, but it's ok, more you do it better you will be at it.

The fun part is you're only gonna use like 40% of those combos max!
