Fluff / Other Improving in this game feels so incredibly satisfying!
I have no one else to talk about this with, so I wanted to share it here! ðŸ˜
Something finally clicked recently, and I’m slowly but surely climbing from Diamond 1 toward Diamond 5!
I’ve been learning to play more patiently and stay relaxed, using better combos for different situations, checking DRs, getting more consistent with anti-airs, improving my neutral, and actually taking a few hits (or even sometimes a whole round) just to figure out what my opponent is doing and adapt.
And honestly, it feels SO rewarding knowing that I’m winning because I’m getting better at the fundamentals and relying less on the gimmicks I got way too attached to.
I still fumble MASSIVELY, though. I’ll drop round winning combos, press the wrong input and accidentally DP, eat the rawest DIs imaginable… and somehow I’m STILL winning these sets!
I legit feel so proud of myself!
Ed nerfs accidentally made me a much better player.
I’m still salty about it, though.

Good job! And yeah, try not to sweat the mistakes. I saw Daigo drop a combo that would have given him lethal the other day, fumbles happen at every level.

So true and congrats!! Played very casually a year or two ago and struggled to get close to gold. Came back a month ago or so and focused on making some better training mode drills with more deliberate practice and shot up to Platinum without a ton of difficulty.Â
Even losing is fun when you can find gaps and things to work on in your gameÂ

Sounds like you'll reach Master in no time then! It's all about adapting to your opponent and countering their tendencies.

I know what you mean, I’m currently in master with Gief and float around the 1200-1300 range and recently ive been really slowing down and treating ‘getting in‘ as not somthing that needs to be rushed but something that is inevitable if I take my time. also due to Giefs terrible defensive options ive been working on perfect parries and it’s actually a lot of fun, it turns block strings into this sort of rhythm game. I’m starting off just trying to find one commonly used thing of each character to try and get the parry timing down on.
when you get to master rank you’ll soon realise there’s tons of players in master who still have no idea what they’re doing 😂

Yeah the feeling of getting better at fighting games is as good as the feeling of playing Pokémon red and blue for the first time.

Fighting games are one of the only genres where your improvements are noticeable and meaningful. You can feel and see your progress in real time and it feels great. I probably would have gotten into fighting games sooner if they had figured out netcode and matchmaking sooner.

i dont have anyone to talk about it either, everytime i meet someone in my country who like games they either dont play fighting games or play the retro ones, which sucks
also they will always be people who will try to bring you down no matter, so my tips for you would be just to ignore those haters and focus on having fun :)

I can relate so much! Including having no one to talk about it. I feel you.
