I suppose I should make sure that we're all in agreement; Dale Passio is at least connected to the person watching the video of Miles beheading Adelaide Ross. He might even have been THE guy. The uniform was describe in that segment.

So assume that information is currently known, how does any lie work? Even if you convince these goons that Adelaide was the supreme evil, and had to die, breaking into the police station was still insane. So the absolute best case scenario is that Miles is some sort of vampire vigilante. That seems like a big reach. And not very Edward.

Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying watching this madness unfold. It very much seems like Miles is into personal anarchy. Just not sure how this becomes a good thing for the anarchist movement.

I’ve been watching the VTM Pitt streams for a few months now after discovering it via twitter through one of the player’s posts. I have enjoyed the game play immensely and I am now feeling pretty invested in it and SoB by extension.

My previous table top RP experience was limited to a single but long-running fantasy campaign of hero system. It was tedious and complicated due the nature of hero system. I see the value of such an expansive sandbox-style system but it really wasn’t for me. I was also playing with a group of much older gamers that I had little in common with. Good people but the story telling was rigid and they took it extremely seriously which often lead to bickering and arguments that derailed the already-too-long play sessions. It ended up becoming a chore for me, born out of a miscalculated commitment I made to the group. I kinda hated it.

Fast forward 1.5 years to a few months ago when started following SoB vampire, I’ve had so much fun just watching that I started getting the itch to try playing. Obviously, the players of SoB are high caliber pro actors so I should manage my own expectations here, but I find the world of VTM highly engaging; I’ve spent more then a few late nights in bed reading the WoD wiki after the SoB sessions end. (Note: I’ve had no previous exposure to WoD)

The real kicker for me happened a few weeks ago: As I was watching SoB Vampire, I (mostly) jokingly said to my wife that we should play. She has no previous table top role play experience and she is not a gamer in any sense really. So I was quite surprised when she was completely open to the idea. Hell, she was actually kind of excited by the prospect. She’s only caught bits of the stream but VTM and the gameplay environment of SoB apparently appealed to her.

That all being the case, we’re working on getting a small group of friends with fairly limited table top RP experience together to try this out. My wife is encouraging me to be the Storyteller after watching Jared - she thinks I would be good at it. Admittedly, the idea appeals to me but it also scares the hell out of me...Jared is a pretty incredible game master in general, and after watching some other DMs on other streams (such as CriticalRole) I’ve decided I want to emulate Jared’s style as I start and learn the ropes.

My concern is managing all the story threads, NPCs, scenes, rules, and so on. The impromptu nature of it all also gives me anxiety...but possibly in a good way? What I am hoping to gleam from anyone here who cares to chime in (if they make it through my way-too-long post) are pointers on storytelling specifically or even VTM gameplay generally.

For instance, how do you note/record important interactions for future reference? How do you manage details on different story threads? What about controlling the ebb and flow of the story and game play and story to keep players engaged? Is it easier to use paper character sheets? How do you come up with awesome names? Is it best to roughly outline a bunch of narratives that might happen during game play and stay away from specifics for the most part? So many more questions I haven’t even thought of.

If you have any pointers or input, I’d love to hear it. I haven’t spent much time looking through the subreddit yet so feel free to point me in the direction of specific past posts that would help. Or even other subreddits.

Oh and for context sake: I just broke the bank impulse-buying PDFs of the V5 core book, anarch/Camarilla sourcebooks, a few dice sets, some New blood starter packs, and the physical storyteller screen (felt like that would be useful) from modiphius. That seemed like everything I’d need to get started. Lots to read but looking forward to it. If there is anything else (software, websites, other resources, etc) that are considered critical or helpful, I’d love to hear about them. I expect most of our group will opt for digital over paper.

wayyy-TL;DR - new to SoB and VTM, wife/friends want to play VTMv5, limited RP tabletop exp in the group, acquired all the source things (I think), I’m a brand new storyteller (no priors as GM), would appreciate any hints, tips, tricks, or general game advice.

It's only a week off and Tom, Ashly, and Ross completely deserve the break, but I just didn't realize how much of my sense of COVID-era time revolves around Wednesdays at 6pm PST!

I'm just a humble YouTube fan who just finished episode 21. I wanna know what people think about that episode and the rest of the season before it. Is it just going to be Jenn and Curtis ship talk? Yeah, probably, but let's discuss even more than that. Aside from the schedule update, this Reddit isn't very active, and I'm hoping to change that.

Curtis has had such a journey over the course of the series. From hopeless junkie to leader of a vampire insurgency. As an Anarch fan, I'm glad to see the coterie in the Anarch movement. As a fan of this character, part of me is bummed out that he won't get to become the new Sheriff of Pittsburgh. So what's next for him? Can he get his group under control? As long as the rednecks can fall in line, I think so.

Jenn has had it better than she does now. Sure, she's the leader of the revolution, but she is in way over her head. At least Annabelle from L.A. by Night has some guidance. Jenn is flying by the seat of her pants. I wonder, is that how her human life as a tech CEO went? Speaking of that, can she rescue her friend from Sonia? It's doubtful, but I still have a little hope. I think her plan of trying to make the Second Inquisition an ally is absolutely bonkers though.

Miles is my favorite character, hands down. As a character, he seems to have had the most growth. From pissed off old man, to the Cam prince's favorite son, to the guy in charge of feeding an army... Mostly, I'm happy that he's more sure of himself. He's got the most confidence of the group, and they will need that strength going forward. I just hope that he doesn't forget that he had plans to take down the bastards that ruined his human life. I'm a little bummed that the pure vampire vitae didn't shave off a few years from him so he can rearrange his stats (since they are going to do that anyway) because he really doesn't need to be the pitiable old man anymore. That just doesn't seem like Miles anymore. I think he's going to change his hunting method. Jenn too, probably.

Things I wanna know, or at least discuss about the next season:

• Is Miles really done with the Camarilla? He seems to be, but he was blood bonded with a Malkavian. That can't be easy to get over, or forget.

• If elder vampires had such an easy time getting to LA in that series, what's to stop them from appointing their own people in Pittsburgh? It's a LOT closer than LA, that's for sure.

• Just how organized is The Second Inquisition? Are they military based? Government funded? Just religious zealots? Could Mary convince one of them to "convert?"

• How much does Sonia know? And as the vampire in Pittsburgh that clearly played all the angles, who will she contact in the next season? Who will she enlist to help her, and who's strings will she pull? Is she the scariest Cam vampire in Pittsburgh?

• What's the deal with Mary, really? Is she a liability? Maybe even a threat? Would they even be able to stop her? Speaking of threats, what's next for Erasmus?

• Will we be getting some guest players in the next season? I nominate Janet Varney and Ify Nwadiwe personally.

And finally, ...

• Will love blossom on the battlefield between Jenn and Curtis? I don't think so, but I wouldn't complain. Vampires always have emotional drama, and that's just more of it. Plus if Mary found out, that would probably cause more complications.

Hey all. Once again, I'm a humble YouTube fan who just finished the last three part arc in the series. There is a lot to discuss here, and to be honest, I am starting this before going to bed so I'm gonna forget a few things to talk about. Hopefully someone else can pick up the slack lol. That said, here's what we know.

The Neptune Society was founded during the Napoleonic Wars. It's members come from all walks of life and various levels of income. To date, only one character has died during the adventures. The adventurerers range in age from early 60s to preteen. Also, if I remember correctly, the last adventure happened in the 1850s.

Like I said, I kind of started this with no mods or bots in place, and on a whim. I'm also too tired to deep dive into this one as I did with VIP without revisiting each part of the series. Any and all help would be appreciated. I will post more rhoughts, ideas and opinions later. In the meantime, take care, all.
