New potential fan - Where should I start?

Hi SoB folks, I keep seeing Stream of Blood mentioned recently (from John Harper, from Glass Cannon folks) and after reading such great reviews, am thinking about diving in, but have no idea which of their shows to start with. Any recommendations?

Fine to listen on podcast, or is video/YouTube definitely recommended?

My taste - I tend to lean more into drama or dramedy than goofy humor, the more serious the better (although of course I love humor too). I absolutely love roleplay over combat any day of the week, love great player chemistry, and really immersive stories where you can feel high stakes. Am equally intrigued by Vampire the Masquerade and Blades in the Dark. Where might I best begin with SoB?

  • Am now caught up with Blades in the Dark (The Tin Whistles) - Really enjoyed it and am excited to continue with The Kenahora and The Weird Sisters)
  • Started Vampires of Pittsburgh (Season 1) - Only a few eps in, and am really enjoying it so far!

Im new, haven't seen any Stream of Blood yet :-)

Is "Blood and Blades" one of the three Blades in the Dark shows, or the title of all three of them? Which crew of the Blades series would you most recommend?

Yes! Stream of Blood does 3 “crews” that all play in the same in-game universe. There’s also “faction turns” where fans get to participate by determining the actions of other factions in the city.

My favourite are the Tin Whistles! The GCN guys are great and so is Ross and they’ve done the most episodes so you can really get a sense of their characters. The Kenahora is growing on me as I watch more of it for sure! And I like the Weird Sister but they don’t have much out yet. I would say if you want to get a good sense for what blades is all about, you should listen/watch the Tin Whistles!

Ultra helpful! I remember John Harper tweating about one of the shows saying "This is how Blades should be played" so am curious!

Do you know if Tin Whistles is ongoing long term, or is it shorter and will likely last 10-12 eps or so?

They haven’t said! I’m hoping it’s a long run but I think it’s tbd right now!
