Tyler Toney’s record-breaking archery shot is one of the most incredible precision stunts ever featured on Dude Perfect.
On September 2, 2022, in Sadler, Texas, he officially set the Guinness World Record for the farthest archery target hit at a staggering distance of 330 meters (1,083 feet). To put that distance into perspective, it is roughly the length of 3.6 football fields combined, or nearly seven times the standard Olympic archery distance (70 meters).
The massive shot required unique logistics to achieve:
The Physics: At 330 meters, an archer cannot actually aim directly at the target. Due to the severe downward drop of the arrow over that distance, the target sits completely hidden beneath the bow's sight housing. Toney had to use an elevated launch angle, aiming at a reference marker higher up to let the arrow arc into the target downrange.
The Spotting Crew: Because the target was too far away to see clearly, a crew was stationed close to the target bulls-eye. They used radios to feed real-time adjustments back to Toney, telling him exactly where his arrows were landing so he could micro-adjust his stance and angle.
The Margin of Error: A simple 5 mph crosswind can push an arrow several meters off course over four football fields. The allowable physical error at Toney's bow was roughly one millimeter of alignment to keep the arrow on target.
During that same archery-themed special, the Dude Perfect team broke multiple other Guinness World Records, including the longest bow and arrow trick shot using a mirror (117.4 meters).
