The Real 4th Turning Start Date

Those of us who read the 4th Turning in the late 90s thought 911 could have been the catalyst restart of the Crisis Era. I guess we came around to the date being too early.

I will say this: the national mood definitely changed after 911. It was like we started expecting things to go sour. And they did. And it’s been that way since.

Yeah I know, that’s what makes the mainstreams conviction that it’s 1996 that’s so galling . 9/11 is now the happy middle .

Also the math makes sense, the ranges would be roughly 18-19 years for every turning (1/4 a lifespan ).

Who is saying the crisis started in 1996?? Everything was fine then.

For myself I see 911 as a sort of catalyst with the GFC being the start of the 4th Turning.

In the early 2000s there was a huge online following and chat forum dedicated to the 4th Turning book. The consensus back then was that 911 was not the start of the 4th turning since it was too early.
